A walk down Bayswater will provide you with many budget restaurants. I can only recommend the ubiquitous Pizza Express. There may also be an Ask ( similar to Pizza Express), I just can't remember. I believe there is also a Cafe Uno on Bayswater.

There is a Texco's supermarket very near the Notting Hill underground entrance. You can get good salads, sandwiches, etc. If your hotel has a microwave oven to heat up the food, you can get good soups, frozen food, etc.

I posted this last year:

I recently stayed at the Travel House Hotel in Notting Hill, paying around 50GBP for a twin room without breakfast. But the room had a refrigerator, microwave oven and a sink, which was great: you can prepare your own breakfast (I hate English breakfast, too greasy for my taste), and supper (if you are really on a tight budget). The Hotel is half a block from the Notting Hill Tube Station, and walking distance to Hide Park, Kensington Gardens, VIctoria and Albert Hall, Museum of Natural History, Bayswater shopping area, etc The only bad thing about the hotel is that it does not have telephones in the rooms.
