Sorry that in my query re above, the list of the markets got missed. <BR> <BR>They are: <BR>Camden Town, Spitafields, or Portobello Rd., <BR>With only time for one, which should I choose. <BR>Muriel

I would definitly go with Portobello Rd, is is larger, be prepared for crowds, but there is a larger selection of antiques,bric a brac, etc. Spitalfields is mainly fruit and veg, with crafts and some antiques thrown in mainly on Sundays. I don't know when you say camden Town if you mean Camden Market or camden passage. Camden is mainly second hand clothes, crafts, and few antiques. camden passage on wed. and Sat. has some very nice shops and occasionally I'll find some good silver at the outside dealers. If you've only 1 to choose and for a wide variety I'd go for Portobello. Also some good place for lunching in the area. If you like 19th cen glass make sure to look up georgina Jay, nice mdse., good silver flatware try wynward wilkinson, both inside P RD dealers.Great place to pick up engravings , which make great gifts as they are easy to pack in a padded envelope. I often find really good pictures there too. If you are really a serious buyer , you want Bermondsey ( New caledonian) market. However it stats about 3:30 AM and is just about over before noon,and is on Fridays only so this is only for the true addict!!

Definitely Portobello Road. Saturday morning before 8:30 a.m., take the circle or district tube line to the Nottinghill exit. Go around the corner to the right and follow the crowds. Lots of good stuff, nice vendors, fair prices, street buskers, etc. By 10:00 you can't move in the street (no traffic allowed, but the occasional Jag gets through)!

Several months ago while watching the Travel Channel, I caught a snippet of a program in which they cited several lesser known places to go in London. <BR> <BR>One of them was a Friday morning antique market, called Burnsey (sp?) Market --- didn't catch exactly where it was located; but if antiques are an interest, it sounded very interesting. Has anyone been here?

Linda <BR> <BR>I think that would be Bermondsey, mentioned in Jody's post above but I believe that is aimed more at professionals and tends to offer mroe expensive items. <BR> <BR>Havent been though... <BR> <BR>Agree with choice of Portobello. <BR> <BR>Camden has some fabulous shops now but you have to know which bits of the market they are concentrated in as there is an awful lot of utter rubish there too....
