Patrick,
That is a HILLARIOUS website! It made me laugh!

I am a little (ok, a lot) confused why people are writing lists about what they miss about London. - But I confuse very easily.

I thought your title to this thread refered to the website. (The plan to have the London Eye "dismantle itself" REALLY put a smile on my face. I can picture it! :)) )

Scarlett Aug 6th, 2004 06:00 PM

I answered What I was missing because I am a London Lover..
this was my favorite idea for what to do with the London Eye...
"The wheel will be unhooked from its spindle and, thus freed, will roll around the country solving mysteries and avenging wrongs". LOL

pandaschu Aug 6th, 2004 06:15 PM

I guess I was in a "missing London" mood today, because I misread the title of the post as: London Lovers: what ARE YOU missing? and completely disregarded the web address. Sorry for the subject change! I did however have fun thinking up my list and reading others.

BTW, (and now I am going to steer WAY off subject), PatrickLondon, a few months ago you gave suggestions for some theatre reviews which lead to my seeing Measure for Measure at the National Theatre, and I just wanted to thank you. We chose that over the Globe's production and are so glad we did. Thanks!

pandaschu,

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad! - I was just confused. LOL! :)

Scarlett, that was actually my favorite too ;) (The WHOLE London Eye thing was funny ... as where the other "articles")

Ok, I don't want to be left out! Here is MY list:

Theatre
flower boxes
street buskers
fish and chips
the Meander tour of the British Museum
afternoon tea
minding the gap
... many, many things!

cigalechanta Aug 6th, 2004 07:17 PM

And I was just missing the pubs!

pandaschu

I am in a missing London mood on a regular basis. One way to solve that!
:)

PatrickLondon Aug 7th, 2004 03:41 AM

[blushing a little] and I didn't see either production, pandaschu.

That was funny, Patrick. Thanks for posting.

I've solved my missing-London problem by booking a Priceline package for the first of October. The price is higher this year, but we did get the Millennium Bailey Hotel that several of you have recommended.

Hi Patrick!

My two cents' worth:

The West End, the National and Alemida Theatres

Locanda Locatelli - the best pasta I've eaten this side of Italy

Indian restaurants

Afternoon Tea (who could forget?)Especially at Brown's

walkinaround Aug 9th, 2004 03:59 AM

i'm still here but i do move around a lot so it's only a matter of time...

When i do leave, i WILL miss:

Non-commercial theatre(national, barbican, etc).

Watching the faces of visitors from around the world as they climb the lion.

Tate Modern

National Film Theatre (and the book market out front).

black cabs, the buses, the noise and yes, even the smell.

views from the new hungerford footbridge

and in the countryside, "rights of way" for ramblers (the absolute best thing about UK in my opinion).

Rachele Aug 9th, 2004 12:34 PM

My sister

Watching the kids run through the fountain at Somerset House

A pint at the Churchill Arms

Jacket Potatoes - they just taste better in London

The show "Top Gear" on the BBC

Borough Market

Inexpensive flights to the rest of Europe
