London - Jewelry: Gold Charms?
Hello,

Traveling to London this week for our fifth visit. I have started a charm bracelot for 14k gold charms and I would like to add a new charm from each of my trips. I need a "London" charm. Can anyone recommend where to buy a charm which will remind me of London ? We will be staying in the Mayfair section of the city. Thanks for your help !

I found a great little 14K gold london taxicab charm a couple of years back at a jewelry store on the Brompton Rd. Afraid I dont recall the name of the shop, but similar charms are likely to be available in other parts of town. The shop was on the same side of the street as Harrods about halfway between Harrods and the Victoria & Albert Museum. I was in London this past fall and peered in to the window of the same shop (obviously paying no attention to the shops name!). Good luck, I also have a travel charm bracelet and it's not always easy to locate nice charms - but such fun to enjoy as lovely souvenirs - well worth the hunt!

Thanks for the suggestion. I also think they make great souvenirs! I'm sure we will be out and about in the Harrod's area and I will look for this store.

Another suggestion: I have never shopped specifically for a gold charm, but it is worth a try to walk along Hatton Garden , there are a number of jewelry shops there. Hatton Garden is a short walk from the Chancery Lane Tube Station, but as that is still closed due to the accident there in January, I'm not sure what the next best Tube/walking route is.

Farringdon is the closest open station to Hatton Garden.

Great place to shop for diamonds, not so sure about charms though.

Just a guess, but wouldn't the high-end department stores have gold charms? Selfridges, maybe, or Harrod's?
I bought a crown charm for my bracelet a few years back. You can find charms in many, many jewelry stores.

I do believe that London does sell 9 Karat gold? This will have a different color/shade than the 14 Karat gold.

You can buy a 14k gold charm of the Tower Bridge off QVC! However they call it the London Bridge. It reminds me of my trips to London even though I bought it here at home.

I believe there are some jewelry shops in and around the Burlington Arcade. I seem to recall at least one that specislized in men's cufflinks so maybe they'd have charms as well.

The following site has a wide variety of "London Charms" - available in 14k gold and even priced in Dollars!

http://www.sokolsky-intl.com/

Snag is they are based in Somerset - particularly if you wish to see the charms before purchase.

It might be worth contacting them however to find out where they are stocked in London.
