London in March

My family and I would like to visit in London in March. How is the weather in early March? We were in Kilarney, Ireland about that time last year and the weather was comfortable.

March can be touch and go, much like in the U.S. It can either be cold and rainy or sunny and warm. I think it's tough to tell!

you can look at historical temps and rainfall at www.wunderground.com to see probabilities, but of course it IS tough to tell

I was there in March of '89, and it was cold. I wore my long raincoat most of the time, and parks--forget it! It was mild enough one day to wander through Hyde Park, but most of the time I dodged wet and cold weather, and was glad to be indoors.

Go ahead and visit London in March. There is absolutely no way to predict what sorts of weather you will face. Warm-ish, cool, downright cold, fair, cloudy, horrible storms. All are possible, and it is very possible to get them all in the same week.

Just dress in layers and take something waterproof and you will be fine . . . . .

Try searching for London in March at the top. I remember replying to this same question last year. We were in London last March and it was 50 degrees, but rainy and windy most of the week. You need a raincoat, umbrella, sweaters, etc. The day we spent in Windsor was terribly windy and rainy but I'd do it again. The deals for off season are too good to pass up no matter what the weather. If the weather is a big concern plan more indoor activities.
We leave in 37 days for London and I can't wait!

We've been to London in March a couple of times and the weather has been fine. Daytime temps have ranged from 40's to low 60's. We're from Michigan, so the weather in London was generally better than our March weather. Dress in layers, take an umbrella and it's fine. We ususally wore a sweater and a light jacket - and sometimes ended up taking the jacket off in the afternoons.

Many of the hotels don't have A/C so this won't be a problem in March. Tourist crowds will also be lighter.

And the spring flowers are in bloom - take a walk through one of the parks. Green Park is filled with daffodils and beautiful primroses are found everywhere.
