London in February
 

I'm a flight attendant and must travel at off times in order to assure standby status. I'm taking my 17 yo daughter on our FIRST trip to London sometime between Feb 17-25. There are many good suggestions here for 3 to 4 day trips but wondered if anyone had any specific advice regarding a February trip. Also, anything in regard to what a typical teenage girl would enjoy. I'm sure Harrod's will be on our itinerary.

<BR><BR>London Markets are usually a good bet with teens. Camden market is a favorite but on Sunday mornings I also like Spitalfields in combination with Petticoat Lane and Brick Lane. There are lots of cutting edge designers located in this part of town and it's worth the trip to Brick Lane just to have your photo taken under the Eat My Handbag B**ch showroom sign (they have a website too).

Hi Angie-<BR>Your daughter will love London! I have been to London twice with my mom and aunt. While I'm a bit older than your daughter (25), I know that shopping will top her list. I would suggest H&amp;M. They have a website www.H&amp;M.com (I think). The clothes are trendy, and very affordable- even with the exchange rate. Check the website to find a location by your hotel. Also, Lush bath stores have all sorts of wonderful smelling things. Maybe you should get her a travel book (Fodors, of course). Part of the fun of a trip is the planning. If she found some things that interest her that would help in planning. Lastly, www.londontown.com has a nice calendar of events by month. Good luck!

Angie: I took my 16 yr. old niece to London last Feb. and we had a great time. It was cold, but we dressed for it. She loved Harrods, still talks about it. Also Lush and the little stores on Carnaby street. Loved high teas, Wagamama's and the Hard Rock Cafe on Piccadilly. Got hair cut at Vidal Sassoons which went over well, and she also enjoyed the Tower of London very much. British Museum was a bit overwhelming, but she had fun at the Tate Modern. In the evenings, we went to the theater and that was the highlight of the trip for her. <BR>I guess I'm suggesting shopping, tea, a little bit of museum looking and the theater at night.

Angie<BR><BR>I recently had my 17 year old niece staying from Australia - she loved the theatre and also shopping. I could have left her for days in Top Shop at Oxford Circus!

Angie Top Shop is a must! When the crowds at Harrods start to bother you, go next door to Harvey Nichols. I prefer Harvey Nichs to Harrods. I also agree with going to H&amp;M, very trendy and very inexpensive. I would also checkout Sephora if you haven't been to one. All the glitter a girl could want!

London fashion week is on 16th to 20th Feb. If you know anyone in the industry (or someone at your local newspaper to get press credentials), try to get tickets to one of the shows- otherwise you could try to gate crash - but tougher to do than it used to be from what I have been told. Check out web site for London Fashion Week for more details. Selfridges is now a far, far more fashion oriented store than Harrods (and so is HArvey Nichols).Take your daughter there instead.
