London in April

Hi. Is April still the low season for London?
Does anyone know when it ends? Thanks.

There really isn't any "low" season in London. It is a 12-month of the year destination.

But airfares do vary - the lowest fares generally run from Nov through March (except for over holidays) with pretty low fares in April, May, June and October.

In my experience, low fares from the US usually end on March 31.

We flew over last year on March 28, spent April in London, Wales and Cornwall, and never once opened our umbrellas. That's not to say it didn't rain, just that it wasn't raining when we were out walking.

Actually I thought there was a "low season" in London. It lasts from midnight November 29 to noon on November 30. Otherwise it's always busy.

My experience from working in London is that it will be pleasanter and quieter than coming in July or August, with shorter queues. The weather shouldn't be cold but may be a bit showery. Quite frankly, the weather was miles better in April this year than it's been in August!

As far as the weather goes, it is best just to look at the weather pattern a week before you go and then pack accordingly.

You can survey at least 20 different people on here who went in March -April-May, and you will probably get close to 20 different weather experiences!! :D

But the bottom line is that the weather doesn't really matter. You will have a great time! I think you have the right idea going on the "shoulder season"

If you are talking about airfare, it seems to be cheaper in March than April, at least according to my preliminary research flying from Chicago.

Depends on the market each year. Two years ago I had to return on March 31 to get the fare I wanted. This year I got a great deal for April travel to London.

We were there this past April (EAster week) and it was crowded.

We flew Chicago-London in mid-March this year for $298 round trip. Temperatures were in the 50's (F).

There certainly was no lack of tourists at this time of year. I can't imagine how crowded it must be in the middle of summer.
