Try studios2let which we booked through booking.com. It's in Cartwright Gardens where there are also a heap of other moderate hotels (although we didn't go into any of the others).

No one can give useful advice/recommendations w/o your budget.

"Medium priced" and "moderate" could mean anything.

I like the Harlingford, also on Cartwright Gardens:

No reason to stay near the train station...it wouldn't be my first choice of areas. If you provide a budget we can help you with recommendations

There's really no need to stay close to St Pancras. It has good transport links, so you can get there easily from central London.
But Bloomsbury is close, and a nice area to stay in.

I loved the Mentone, also on Cartwright Gardens. Close to St Pancras, Russell Sq, shopping, restaurants and pubs.

Check its website.

if you want a budget free recommendation then you can't beat the Renaissance

http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/tra...-london-hotel/

or the youth hostel http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/london-st-pancras

but there's need to limit yourself to the St Pancras' area, and only you know your budget

>>i really dont know my budget until i get some recommendations <<

IMO that is sort of backwards. Do you want to spend £100/$165? £250/$400+? More? Less? At least a range. There are hundreds of hotels in central London . . .

There are a number of hotels on Cartwright Gardens and I've stayed there because it's walking distance to St. Pancras and also to the Bloomsbury/British Museum area. It's quiet and pretty, very close to some decent restaurants and I plan to stay there again.
