London hotels

What is the best section of London to stay in and what are the best hotels (for around 150-200 pounds)? (Which hotels would you recommend for a three-night stay?)

The best section to stay in is the one that is nearest to the type of attractions you are looking for.
I would recommend the same hotels for a three night stay that I'd recommend for a one night stay or a one week stay.
Now if you want to give us a few clues, we might be able to help you.

Clark - There several great areas in central London and each has many hotels in your price range. Either do a search and see what has been said on other threads or give us more info.

Barring that - generally the best areas for upscale hotels are Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Kensington, South Kensington, Bloomsbury, Covent Garden

Clark, I just returned from London and we stayed at the Rubens-on-the-Palace Hotel right across from the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace. It was a great location because we were within walking distance of the Palace, Green Park, St. James Park, Hyde Park, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, London Eye, Cabinet War Rooms, etc. We walked almost everywhere, but Victoria Station was only a couple of blocks away. Lots of restaurants nearby too. They have a great breakfast and a friendly staff. The room wasn't huge, but it was well appointed and air conditioned. I booked the Rubens thru www.londontown.com (look under luxury small hotels) and got a great deal. Don't know when you are going, but for the fall I think the rate is running around 125 pounds. Let me know if you have any questions.
