Has anyone stayed in The Chesterfield Hotel or 41? Finding some good rates also at Dorchester. Would love some feedback on these hotels. Thank you.

They are all excellent hotels. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. Personally, I prefer the Chesterfield or Hotel 41.

Ditto. Those are all really good properties in good locations. Pick whichever you most like the look of. All three are very central. Since you can find 'good rates' - sounds like you have a fairly generous budget.

We have stayed at the Chesterfield Mayfair several times and it is always our first choice when visting London. We usually select a superior room as I find the standard rooms too tight. The staff are excellent and the breakfast in their dining room is delightful. We enjoyed afternoon tea on our last visit and it was very good. The location is excellent. Just a few blocks from Green Park tube station which has 3 lines running through it. Makes getting around easy. Several good restaurants and pubs in the neighborhood. In addition, Shepherd's Market, with many pubs, restaurants and shops is just one block away.

I stayed in that area in October last year. We were at the Sheraton Parklane very close to the Chesterfield. It's a great area. Green Park has Piccadilly, Victoria, and Jubilee, great for getting out and about. Easy walk to the Palace and other places so I can't speak to your hotel but the location is great.

Thank you very much for your reply. It does look like a nice area. I just looked up the Sheraton Park Lane and it looks like they have totally renovated the hotel but kept the historical art deco character. I hadn't investigated that one--hotel is a big part of total travel experience for me but do not want to pay the prices of Claridges etc. What were your impressions of the public areas and the sleeping rooms?

My friend and I really liked it there. Frankly I probably would not have stayed there...too expensive...but we booked our 30 day trip (two weeks London, two weeks Paris) through Costco and that was one of the hotels so it worked perfectly. Our room was standard although we insisted on two beds, a lot of cute hotels don't offer two beds. The room was very clean, the bathroom was great, we had double shower heads that were so wonderful after a long day. The room was quiet, could now and then hear water in the pipes when someone showered. We had no view in our room but we really were never there so I didn't care. Our breakfast was included and that was a great way to start the day. Lots of choices, hot and cold, cooked to order eggs, lots of breads, fruit, vegetables, cereal and so on. Really nice room, very nice staff.

They served tea in the afternoon if you wanted to partake. We never got back to the hotel until late, we went to the theater almost every night. We found the local Starbucks (shoot me) and hit it every morning. It was a block past the tube stop but we'd pop up there, get our coffee, plan our day and hit the tube or head up Piccadilly. I wish I was there now. Such a fun trip.

The Park Lane area is well situated for London. Have stayed at the Sheraton 4-5 times but not since it was renovated. Huge changes? Nice, very helpful front desk people.

It's not clear to me what your budget is, but look at the Beaumont. It's closer to the Bond St. and Marble Arch tube stations.

The Beaumont is lovely. I have not stayed there, but have been to the restaurant. Quiet side street, but very central.
