London Hotel Value

Am curious about the opinions of the travelers out there concerning what they think is the best value hotel in London...for my purposes, you need not deal with the high end...thank you,
Mike

Mike,

We just stayed at the Shakespeare Hotel, about 2 block from Paddington Station in London. I found it on the internet. It was very reasonable (L42 for a single - for our family of 4 it was about L95. This includes the taxes and breakfast. The rooms were basic, no elevator & we were on the 4th floor of a very steep staircase. The water pressure on the 4th floor not good. We would stay here again for the great location, front desk very helpful and price was great. Have fun.

Our family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids 11 and 14) just stayed at the Travel Inn at London County Hall. Location was great, halfway between Waterloo and Westminster tube stations. Rooms were basic with a double bed and a sofa that turned into a single bed with a pullout bed beneath. Beds didn't come with a top sheet, but we asked for one at the desk and put it on ourselves. Room was very clean and staff was quite friendly. The cost is 75 pounds a night. There is a restaurant in the hotel and you can get breakfast for 4 pounds for continental or 6 pounds for traditional. We tried it once and it wasn't that good. There are several small pastry/sandwich shops by Waterloo station which were a better value for breakfast. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was pretty good though. We would stay there again.

We just got back fom London and stayed six nights at the Arran House Hotel on 77 Gower Street in Bloomsbury-a 10 minute walk from the Goodge St. tube station. The full English breakfast buffet (scrambled eggs, careal, sausage, bacon, french toast, rolls, toast, beans, tomatoes, orange juice, tea and coffee was a great way to start the day.
My family of five–two adults, a 14, 11, and 9 year old–enjoyed our room with a shower and toilet and tv for only 110 pounds per night.
It also has a lovely garden out back
