Aargghh - wrong again. It's very confusing, but looking at the large map, Westminster is indeed north of the river. If you want south of the river, you choose South Bank.

There are always cabs. 12:30 is not that late in London.

I know. Though I can't get over the fact that there's a last tube in London. That's just unthinkable for someone who lives in NYC....

I've been out really late in London but I always feel helpless and usually end up walking because I don't know how the buses work. But true I guess I have taken the black cabs before even when it's really late.

Also I think it's good to think through the scenarios because I don't want to spend money unnecessarily. I've sort of learned my lesson from a 60-pound cab ride to Heathrow on a Sunday morning. So I can think about the best cost-effective options.
