London hotel help please!
 

We are looking for accomodations at Kings Cross/St Pancras area. We need 2 rooms as there are 3 adults and 2 children 16 & 15. Our budget is £1000.00-£1300.00 under would be great! We are not picky just want a clean room as all we will do there is sleep. Want convenient to sights as well as the Eurostar and direct Thameslink train from Gatwick to KGX.

Good that you gave us a budget in GBP, but it's not clear if your budget is £1000-£1300 per night. Per room? If so, you have a wide choice. Or, more likely, £250 - £325 for 2 rooms per night? Do you want 1 triple room and one double/twin room? Or a family room that sleeps four plus a single?

Ordinary double rooms are not large and only sleep 2. A double room has one bed, a twin 2 beds.

The way I read it the OP will be there 4 nights and wants 2 rooms - 1 double and 1 triple - each night. That would be a budget of 250 to 325 pounds per night for BOTH rooms. So really a budget property - perhaps 100 pounds per night for the double and 150 for the triple.

Can't help with specifics since this is not our price point.

But the Pancras Premier Inn won't work since they don;t offer any triples except when the 3rd is a small child in a cot. For 2 rooms the budget would work - but the OP would need 3 rooms.

All the chains will consider the 16yo and adult so the ones that have family rooms could only sleep the 15 yo and two adults.

Look at the three Travelodges near Kings Cross. There are at least 3. You can put two adults and 15 yo in one room and one adult/16yo in another. One or more of them may fit within your budget.

The easiest way to find exactly what you're looking for is to go to one of the hotel booking websites. ( booking.com/ hotels.com etc.) Plug in your dates, the number of rooms you want, number of adults/ children and their ages and desired location. A number of options will come up showing price/ room selection etc. There will also be reviews and ratings which can be helpful in making a final decision. Couldn't be easier. Of course once you've made your selection you can book directly with hotel if prices are cheaper. Sometimes they are and sometimes they're not.

Booking.com is great -- unfortunately, normally travelodges don't show up on that site. So if it was me I'd try booking.com AND https://www.travelodge.co.uk

You're right, of course. No Travel Lodges and can't remember if they list Premier Inns. I've never been a fan of Travel Lodge so like looking at other possibilities.

The only reason I'm even mentioning travelodges is because they need 2 rooms and have a pretty low budget. There are some in good locations.

Most of the nicer/better located Premier Inns would bust the budget.

Premier Pancras have family rooms -> they cram an additional bed in a room. A normal bed.

We paid about 260 £ for the 5 of us, booking done the day before the trip with some discount. I found it was expensive, glad to see I managed a reasonable price.

Just checked their dates. I was thinking ( for whatever reason…not taking notes ;) ) that it was only for 2/3 nights.

True -- BUT they are very strict that to qualify the child/children have to be <i>under</i> 16 (i.e. up to 15 yo). And yes, they do verify the ages. So the OP can only fit the 15 yo into a family room. The 16 yo plus the other adult would need to be in a separate room.

I just checked for the OP's dates and the St Pancras Premier Inn would fit easily into their budget -- only £200 a night total for both rooms but that is for <u>pre-paid/non-refundable</u>. For a rate that allows cancellation it goes up to £264 a night/£1056 total for the 4 nights. And w/ breakfast it rises to £306/£1224. So yes it does fit in the budget for the two rooms.

If you're not fazed about hostels, this one is great. Two private rooms for 40 pounds per night each - you can't beat the location either.
