London hotel advice for travel with kids: Rubens, Milestone or Covent Garden Hotel
We are off to London in early July and I am looking for a hotel. Rubens, Covent Garden Hotel and Milestone all have triples. Which location is the best with the kids? I want to be near the tube and also some casual restaurants for dinner. I have been to London a few times before, but this trip is the first for my 8 and 10 year kids. Any suggestions?

Covent Garden Hotel is a dream, but VERY spendy. I loved it, but I'm not sure it's the place I would pick if traveling with kids. Not that there's anything wrong with going nice places with kids, but you're paying a lot extra for the "je ne sais quoi" experience, which kids won't necessarily appreciate. That said, I spent 3 nights of a 7 night trip there with my 13-year-old and she thought it was TOTALLY worth it. Of course, she didn't have to pay the bill 
(I balanced the cost by using Priceline for the first 4 nights.) If money is no object, then go for it. I don't know the other two you mentioned.

I have no idea of the prices of those hotels, but we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Mayfair, which has 2 double beds, for around £135/night (a bit higher on weekdays and lower on weekends). I love the location; it was quite convenient to the tube and bus lines (half a block), and many things were within walking distance. There is a Marks and Spencer food hall at the tube entrance, and we ate at the Strada pizza place, which wasn't terribly far. For breakfast there is a Cafe Nero around the corner and a Starbucks (inevitably) across the street.

All three of those properties are in great locations. I would probably just go w/ the one that gives you the largest room for the least money.
The Milestone (I think) also has flats. if so that might be the best choice. It is right off the corner of Kensington Gardens/Palace and close to the Princess Diana playground. The nearby tube station is Kens High Street on the Circle/District lines.
The Rubens is right across from the Royal Mews which the kids would enjoy if they are into horses. It is near Victoria so lots of transport options.
And the Covent Garden is right in the center of things and near the Piccadilly line.
So you really can't go wrong w/ any of them - depending on what rates you are getting . . . .
