London Hotel

Any suggestions for a mid-priced hotel in London, possibly in Covent Garden? I know this is quite broad, but we're open to suggestions.

We have booked into The Arch Hotel at Marble Arch (not Covent Garden I know). It has amazing reviews on Trip Advisor and my niece who works at The Dorchester went and checked it out for me and said it was great. Position is really good for Oxford St....maybe worth a look if you dont get lots of ideas for Covent Garden area. Bath.....Royal Cresent or close to....cannot go past, or even consider staying in the Cotswolds and day tripping to Bath if you dont have to be based there.

We have booked the Morgan Hotel in Bloomsbury for May based on suggestions here. Rate includes breakfast.

After May Maudie, can you report back re the Morgan? We want to stay there too and so far the reviews seem good. Thanks.

How do you define "mid-price'? If you give a specific dollar amount or range, people can better answer your question.

The last five times I have been in London I stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel. It is only one block from Covent
Garden and is walking distance to Trafalgar Square, River Thames, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, three tube stops, and Charing Cross rail station. It is also a short tube ride to most other tourist destinations in central London.

It is a large hotel, though, so if you like cozy B&Bs, the Strand Palace won't appeal to you.

<B>Grandot:</B> what is your actual budget? 'mid-priced' tells us nothing.

<B>Peteralan:</B> "<i>can you report back re the Morgan?</i>"

There are MANY posts/reports about the Morgan already on here. It is a very popular budget hotel and is mentioned very frequently. Do a search and you'll find tons of info.

I didn't put an actual budget down because it's flexible. I'd like to spend less than $300 a night (this is way high, but London is so expensive that it seems mid-priced. Less is good.

Peteralan, I will do. I friend popped his head in the door for us a couple of months ago, said it looked clean and tidy. Manager very helpful.

janisj, yes I realise that and have read them including one from yourself if I remember rightly.I guess I was asking for another review just to confirm, although I think it sounds like the one for me.

I use Londontown.com because I like to know exactly where I am staying. I have Grosvenor Kensington booked for next week at 100 DOLLARS a night and the transportation options and neighborhood are great. For Oct-Nov we'll be at Millennium Gloucester for $110.00 dollars a night , breakfast included. Again a great neighborhood with lots of services and very good transportation.
