London Hotel

I am beginning my London research! Will be travelling to Canterbury late May and want to enjoy London for a long weekend. I'll be taking the train from Canterbury on Thursday am and will meet up with my cousin who is fling in to Heathrow. Where should we stay? (location suggestion) I have no idea where the train arrives from Canterbury and want some easy transport from station to hotel. Would the Kensington area be easy for me as well as travel from Heatrow?

When asking for a hotel recommendation it's always best to include your budget.

London/Canterbury trains use Victoria Station. The area around Victoria has a LOT of good, reasonably priced hotels. South Kensington is also convenient to both LHR and Victoria. Kensington would be a bit less convenient but not bad.

Victoria, South Kensington or Mayfair would be the most convenient areas, but just about anywhere in central London would have easy access to Victoria/LHR.

But I agree w/ P_M - what is your budget?

How about moderate for a budget answer. Based on double occupancy, we each would like to spend no more than $800. (total=$1600;that's US dollars). We want an included breakfast. Does this seem reasonable? If so, where? Thanks.

I'm assuming you mean 800 GBP or $1600. If you are planning a long weekend, say 4 nights, you shouldn't have a problem as that would be about 200 GBP a night for a double. A continental breakfast is usually included, but beware of the VAT which is sometimes not included in the price and can be a real surprise. It's really just a matter of where you want to be.
