London hostels

A friend and I are looking for hostels in London. How would we find cheaper hostels for a week? Is there a website that is useful for this? Thanks so much for the help!

There is one that I have stayed at....It is probably in the best site in London.....Just along from Piccadilly Circus.....Called something like Piccadilly backpackers hostel....Very well-run....Very large amount of rooms....But I remember booking in advance ......They probably do have a website. It was the best thing that happened to London, when they opened..

Hey Becky,
I actually stayed at the Picadilly backapackers hostel, and so did my parents, poor people.. The hostel was very cool, excellent location for the price paid, there is a tube just 50 or 100 mts away. Its walking distance to Leicester square, and also very close to trafalgar square, awesome bars and places to eat, and its always alive and SAFE!
Do check it out on any of the webistes provided on the posters above!
Good Luck

These people have a few places around the city (and elsewhere). I can't say if they're any good or not but they seem popular.

Also re the Grenerator above. I worked in this in one of it's two previous incarnations. It has been both a police section house and a hostel for the homeless. I only worked in one of these.....

I stayed in the Astor Victoria in October and thought it was great - friendly staff, clean, luggage storage, lockers. We didn't really have time to meet many people, but if you're looking for that it seemed like a good place for it - usually a few people in the lobby, movie room, etc. We liked it so much that I'm staying in another Astor hostel in June (the Museum location this time). Web site is

You can book online - I think it goes through hostelworld. Not sure if they have weekly rates - you could always email them and ask.
