how are the hilton hotels in London? ever stayed at one? Paddington? hyde park? kensington?
appreciate feedback. thanks!

Stayed at the Hilton Chelsea Harbor, which was a lovely hotel, but very out of the way. I would not recommend it unless you wanted a secluded holiday. Transportation options were a long walk to the tube or taxis, which were relatively expensive when used several times daily.

There are <b>many</b> Hiltons in London in all sorts of neighborhoods at all sorts of price points (a flat would still probably be cheaper for you)

Of the 3 you listed - Hyde Park is probably the only one I'd stay at. The Paddington is a fine property - but I'd personally not want to stay at Paddington Station.

&quot;Kensington&quot; is beyond Holland Park and really closer to Shepherds Bush.

Not all the London Hiltons have the same star rating BTW. I've stayed at the Hilton Park Lane, right across the street from the Hyde Park. It's a nice five star property.

I just stayed at the Hilton Metropole on Edgware Road (1 stop from Paddington) and while I actually liked the location, the hotel is not what I consider to be Hilton quality. Lots of service glitches and a very small room. I did get it off Priceline though so I'm sure they didn't allocate us the best room but there's no excuse for key cards that stop working, phone lights that they can't turn off, elevators that change direction, a locked safe that we couldn't get them to address. And I didn't find the beds to be comfortable.

Paddington isn't an ideal location for everyone that visits London but it was ideal for us as we took 2 daytrips from Paddington and met people twice near Piccadilly Circus, a straight shot on the Bakerloo line.

I stayed at the Hilton London Paddington in March 2007. Had a wonderful stay. Very convenient from Heathrow since Heathrow Express is in Paddington Station. This hotel has it all - starbucks, direct access to Paddington station, grocery store, drugstore, krispy kremes, sushi place, pub and trains to connect you wherever you need to go. My husband and toddler got sick. Hotel staff and management bent over backwards helping us out and sending a doctor to our room. Executive lounge girls were helpful. Concierge was great, even offered to fill my baby bottle with milk. Just about every staff person we saw in the lobby addressed us by our name &quot;mr and mrs. X&quot;. I had booked executive room with points and paid 30 GBP/night for an upgrade to large suite. We had a spectacular stay. Even though you don't spend time the day in the room, it's great to come home to a comfortable one.

Although a bit expensive, I will definitely return due to established relationship.

I have stayed at Hilton Edgeware in 2002 and had a nice stay as well. It is a large hotel. I felt more at home and had more staff interaction with the Paddington hotel.

I would not choose the Hilton Paddington. Because I think the Hyde Park Hilton location would be nicer. The Paddington Station immediate surrounding area is just little tabac shops and other little sundry shops. Not especially nice IMHO. But, just a few blocks over, getting closer to Hyde Park, the neighborhood is full of charming little homes, hotels, and restaurants.

I don' like the location of the Hyde Park Hilton as I find it too far from all the central London attractions which I would like to reach on foot. It's at Queensway for God's sake.

We stayed at the Kensington Hilton, in Holland Park, using Hilton Honors points. While it is almost to Shepherd's Bush, there are a couple of blocks and a big road / difficult crossing between the hotel and Shepherd's Bush. The area between the hotel and the Holland Park tube station was fine, and it's an easy walk. There's also a bus from the hotel door to the Holland Park tube station or past that to the Notting Hill station.

The rooms weren't bad, we got free breakfast and free afternoon drinks, and we didn't find the location terribly inconvenient. Particularly given the price.

We stayed in the Waldorf Hilton this summer, near Trafalgar Square. The staff was extremely nice, the rooms were very zen and spa like, but oddly there was almost no storage. one room had a chest closet with about one foot of hanging space. The complimentary breakfast that came with our upgraded rooms was very simple, we usually went out for breakfast.
The location couldn't be beat, we walked everywhere from our central location.

We loved the location of the Waldorf Hilton. We prefer to get around London on the buses, and there were stops for half a dozen or more routes steps from the entrance. Lots of terrific dining within walking distance.
