Please tell me we NEED a week's worth of "theatre fix" on the West End in early June 2017!

New York offerings don't appeal for that timeframe, at least not now, although to and from NYC would be a lot cheaper to do. LuPone as Madam Rubenstein and her art collection could be a hoot I guess but other than that, not really.

Opera at Covent Garden means "Elixir" so probably not.

Haven't looked at any of the museums for special exhibits yet.

How about the Half-Price Txts Booth in Leicester Square - I'm sure you are familiar with that?

Wasting money - How about Madame Tussauds? Or the London Dungeon?

Did you ever arrange your trip to Cornwall? Because June would be the perfect time for it. Fair chance of good weather and pre school holidays.

So you don't even have anything in mind you want to see? There are a lot of good shows on Broadway this Spring, Kevin Kline will be in Present Laughter and that runs into June. Also, Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon in Little Foxes and Allison Janney in Six Degrees of Separation is at the Barrymore beginning April and will run into June.

Yes, RM67, we will do it in August right after Scotland. Flying to Newquay from Gatwick for four days with a car rental and very much looking forward to it.

Christina the biggest issue I have with New York is finding some decent site which tells when shows are going to open and I guess I've been looking in the wrong places since you've got all this info.

The Little Foxes is not a happy show as you know and I'd be more inclined toward Six Degrees.

There's not anything at The Met I'm particularly interested in so it would be shows and museum exhibits mainly and anything left over from our trip up next month.

I like New York and we discussed New York vs. London earlier today; thanks as I will give it some more thought.

Thank you again. We decided to do New York and booked "Hello DollY" as well as "Warpaint" and a couple of others. Got a great N/S airfare on Delta and a hotel room through Booking.com. Appreciate your suggestion.

You could buy a Swiss Pass which gets you discounted at many East End London Theatres!

And if you buy a Swiss Pass before the end of the year as a bonus you get free entry to Covent Garden -where some of the 'best' life theatre in London exists!

Two ideas:

1. Book a viewing of the Changing of the Guard from inside the Wellington Barracks.

2. Book a private tour that takes you inside Churchill's War Cabinet room. Most tourists wait on line for an hour and then just get to look through a pane of glass.

I've just made searches for this and I can't turn up anything.

Any ideas?

Dukey, I think you certainly NEED a week of London theatre. I don't have any good suggestions for how to spend your money but I hope you have a wonderful time once you figure out how to to do it.

Given the exchange rate you'll be spending much less than normally if you're coming with dollars ;).

As I said in an entry upthread, we have decided to go to New York instead and in June of this year. However, we will be in London in August.

In June, I would go to the Regents Park Open Air Theatre. They are doing last year's sell-out Jesus Christ Superstar again, but in August/September. It was a fantastic performance. Make a special trip for it!

In June it's Leonard Bernsteins 'On the Town'.

I've never seen anything disappointing at Regents Park. Weather is always a bit of a risk, but if you wait until you're certain the weather is good, it may be sold out.

Ah sorry missed your previous post Dukey. Perfect for Jesus Christ Superstar then. Booking opens december 15; it'll be sold out again for sure.

I saw the Changing of the Guard from inside the Wellington Barracks. This, for those who don't know, is where the Guard lives and where they have their concern prior to marching down the short spur to Buckingham Palace.

They usually keep it pretty current. As an example, Sunday in the Park was just announced today, and it's up there.
