London Heathrow - Beware Congestion Fees & Europcar

Congestion charges in London were big news in the US when first enacted--or so it seemed to me, but then, I read a lot of news. It is, of course, surprising that a person actually traveling to the UK wouldn't know about them, and shades over into unbelievable that that same person would not be able to decipher signs about congestion charges.

But hey, we make mistakes. And we pay for them. Without whining, ideally.

This is one of the most preposterous complaint threads I've read on this board.

ANYONE who goes to London and does the most minimal amount of due diligence knows that there is a congestion charge. Anyone who goes to London also knows that it is daft to rent a car to drive in London because the city is basically impossible to drive in.

If you rent a car, how do you think the congestion charge will be paid - by the rental company as a service for you? Considering the contractual language greg posted above, the OP acted the fool and wants coddling for it.

The congestion charge has been around for a decade. I expect the car companies think everyone knows about it by now.

Have not had this problem with Europcar as we were aware of the tax. However major problems with their debating our credit card multiple times for the same thing. Bank finally stepped in and reversed all the charges. Beware!

I think I prefer "be aware" to "beware", which sounds like a pirate movie. Europcar, ARGH...shiver me timbers, matey!!
