london heathrow airport to kennsington

What is the best way to get from Heathrow to the Kennsington Marriott? Will be going for the Olympics if that makes a difference in travel.

Go down to the tube station in your airline terminal at LHR and get on the ONLY tube line into Central London which is called the Piccadilly Line. Before buying your ticket, purchase a OYSTER CARD at the tube ticket office for around 5 pounds-it is a reloadable discounted fare card which you can turn in at the end of your visit if you wish and get the original 5 pounds back. The OYSTER CARD is used on all tubes and buses throughout London and provides quite a discount as opposed to buying individual tickets. I am sure that there is probably a special Olympic OYSTER CARD as there was one for the wedding last year which was a cute souvenir!
The tube ride into the city will be around 45 minutes and you can decide which tube station is closer to your hotel-South Kensington,Kensington (Harrods exit),etc. The fee will be around 6 dollars USD to get in.
If you decide to do a taxi it will be expensive and time consuming. If there are alot of you with alot of luggage, I like the limo company called JUST AIRPORTS which will pick you up in the arrivals hall and drop you directly at your hotel-fares for 3/4 with lots of luggage are usually around 50-60 pounds but check their website for a definite price.

The Kensington Marriott (note the spelling) is about 1/4 mile from the Earl's Court tube station.

So either take the tube and walk, or if you have too much luggage, pre-book a car service from LHR. justairports.com is a good/inexpensive car service.

Thank you, however, can you tell me the time difference between the tube from LHR and a taxi to Earls'Court area? We are arriving at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday and going to Kensington Marriott. Also, we did already purchase an Oyster Card and received it in the mail. Thank you for any help since the place is probably getting crazy with excitment!

Just to clarify --a car service is not a 'taxi'. A taxi would be VERY expensive. A car service must be pre-booked and will run approx 1/2 the cost of a taxi.

Re time difference on a weekday morning . . . The actual travel time would be pretty close between the tube and a car service. The tube would probably be a little faster. But there would be a fairly long walk to the tube station at LHR and another long-ish walk ate the Earl's Court end.

So door-to-door, a car service might be a little faster. And it would definitely be easier if you have much luggage.

Definitely not a taxi. Car service would be my choice as it's the easiest especially with luggage.
