London - Hamilton seating

Hoping to get two tickets to Hamilton next June and could use help on picking seats among all the Stalls, Boxes and Circles. I looked at Theatre Monkey (and took notes), but still not sure which area is a better choice. I want to see the heads and the feet! I'm planning to spending up to £100, but I'm flexible. I'm 5'2" and my daughter is 5'9" if that makes a difference with seating. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Hoping to see a Shakespeare play at the Globe Theatre and aiming for middle tier and renting seat cushions. Good choice?

The Victoria Palace is pretty large. I am shorter than you and I'd not book stalls farther back than about Row E or behind the Aisle in maybe rows K or L. Not the front row because you tend to be looking up at the stage.

In most theatres I try for the front row of the Dress circle (called the Royal Circle at the Vic Palace). At the VP the leg room is essentially non existent in the front row but that isn't a problem for you or me me but might be for your daughter. The first couple of rows of the dress circle would give you the best views

BUT . . . my guess is you will not get any of those seats for close to £100. To get £100 tix you'll have to be at the back of the stalls or back of the Circle (or up in the Grand Circle/2nd balcony). So your daughter will probably be OK but you'll have a problem unless the people in front of you are short.

I normally avoid boxes because they have bad sight lines for one side of the stage -- but I've never sat in a box at the VP. They are cheap but are also obstructed view.

Best choice.

Thanks for your suggestions! This will be a big help when the June calendar finally becomes available. And thanks for preparing me that I most likely will have to be flexible, ticket price-wise.

Even if you wanted top stalls or dress circle seats, it's not certain that you will get them. And they may cost 150 pounds each.
We were in upper circle - not my first choice but all that was left. View was excellent (though from high up). The theatre has been renovated (plenty of women's toilets, yeah!) and I think views are pretty good from most seats. The seats we had were 75 pounds.

Last I looked those seats are going for £200. . . . still cheaper than Parts 1 & 2 of Harry Potter(!) Oh, for the 'good old days' when London theatre was a bargain. But there are still cheap tix to many shows.

I don’t know that theater, but have seen Hamilton at two others. Be sure whatever seats you choose allow a sight line to the top of the stage, as much is going on there. Don’t sit too far back under an overhanging balcony, if there is one.

Enjoy!

Janisj, I looked at Harry Potter. Tickets became available recently. Those would cost us 750 pounds for 3 people.
Much as I would like to see this, I'm not going to pay that.

My daughter just paid £60 i.e. £120 to see both parts of Harry Potter .

Thanks for the reminder about restricted views; from what I’ve read, I certainly want to see the top of the stage. When they finally open tickets for the summer, I hope I get to make a choice. Thinking about the cost, I have to decide if this is a memory that I don’t want to miss.

Thanks for starting this, golfmom... good reminder to keep an eye out for tickets for next summer.

I paid around £100, £120 (don´t remember exactly) for two central tickets in the first row of the Grand Circle. Regarding space it was a bit tight, but the view was great.
I had been on the waiting list since august 2016, bought them on the first day they went on sale in January 2017 and went at the beginning of january 2018 ... talk about anticipation ... You should have seen me credit card on hand and missing my lunch hour at work, and everybody looking at me as if I was crazy.

The theatre has been fully renovated and it is lovely, really nice.

Bye, Cova

Well, tomorrow the Hamilton tickets for June go on sale. I've decided to bite the bullet and spend the money (using my birthday money!) and buy the best seats available. My daughter is 5' 9" and I am 5' 2". From the previous replies, and reading Theatre Monkey and other seating plan sites, it looks like my two best options are either the Stalls, Rows F-N (seats 15-36) or the Royal Circle, Rows B-H. I'm going to block out how much the tickets cost and just go for it - it's our last night in London. Which section/row would you choose?

Trophywife007 Feb 10th, 2019 04:54 PM

Thanks again, Golfmom, for this reminder. I'll be looking for tickets for July and am a bit worried about leg room in the first row of the royal circle, yet is row 2 or 3 of RC really any better? It seems like it would be nice to be up higher than on the floor in the stalls.. I'd love to read more suggestions. There are four of us and I'm the shortest at 5' 6".

Golfmom, some of the taller people in my group had a real problem with the legroom in the upper circle seats. It was fine for me, but my husband would not have been comfortable there.
If you can, then go for the better seats.

Golfmom, where did you find out about the release dates for Hamilton tickets? June 2019 is available but I'm wondering about July. Thanks in advance!

Tulips Feb 11th, 2019 07:09 AM

Just got a mail from ticketmaster that Hamilton tickets until June have been released.

janisj Feb 11th, 2019 08:09 AM

I'm on several e-mail lists so I get pre-notice to a lot of theatre. I got the Hamilton notice from Delfont Mackintosh yesterday re the release today.

Thanks. I've signed up for notices. Fingers crossed!

I received the notice and had no trouble buying tickets the first day (yesterday). I bought tickets in the Royal Circle. I was planning on paying the full Premium price for Row C, but my daughter said that was way too much money, “that’s a plane ticket somewhere!”, so we went with Row H on the inside aisle for £100 cheaper each. I think the view will be fine.

Trophywife007 Mar 16th, 2019 10:54 AM

I just happened to recheck the site for tickets last night (had not received a notice) only to find July tickets had been on sale, and when I checked for our date or other evenings around that evening, it said sold out on everything. Arggh! For whatever reason, I checked again today, and there were a lot of seats available. Apparently some sort of glitch yesterday. Got row K next to inside aisle which I had wanted. If at first you don't succeed...!
