London Gatwick--carryon luggage update

Good news for folks flying out of Gatwick... UK Dept for Transport has updated hand luggage rules. Now you are allowed to carry 2 pieces of luggage when you're flying out of Gatwick! (Though again check with your carrier--esp if you're flying charger/budget airlines to be safe.)

W9London,

Thanks for the good news! I am in the UK right now and will fly out of Gatwick this coming Thursday...

Fabulous! Now, before you get too excited, remember that UK security is very strict about the size of the carry-on luggage. Even if your luggage is within the ideal size for your carrier, if your bag looks like it will not fit into the little bin by the entrance to security, the officers will make you check your bag. It is a bit frustrating when you know that your airline would have allowed you to bring the bag on board, but you were stopped by airport security. Still, progress is progress!

That is true, Chels, and they can be quite rude. It is amazing how people enjoy exercise the little power they have...

I should have written "enjoy exercising"...
