London for 24 hours?
 

Hi, I'm sure you're going to say, not nearly enough time but my husband and I have a 24 hour layover in London and we would like to see all that we can. We don't like museums much but I love the pomp and circunstance of royality. Can you help out there? Thanks, Bette

I'm not sure how much you'll want to squeeze into a day, especially if you're arriving that day with jet lag. I think the best site for royalty would be the Tower of London, try to go early, hit the crown jewels first and then take one of the beefeater tours offered near the entrance. <BR> <BR>If you've got a good portion of the day left, you can take a 1/2 hour train trip to either Hampton Court or Windsor Castle. Oops, accidentally posted. <BR> <BR>I think there was a dress exhibit at Kensington Palace when we were there. <BR> <BR>In the evening, you might consider the theatre or taking one of the walking tours in London. We went on a Jack the Ripper tour that was quite good, offered by Original London Walks. I think it started around 6:30. <BR>

if your looking for pomp and circumstances i think you have to do the changing of the guard. otherwise a wonderfully british thing is high tea and none is better than Brown's Hotel (IMO). you need advance reservations however. i also loved westminister abbey and of course that is right there next to big ben.
