It's been a while, but I remember liking Old Speckled Hen and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. If you look at my trip report, I probably have more names in there. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...b-may-2007.cfm

Great information from you all. I am definitely going to search the links suggested. I have copied responses and sent them to my friends who are joining me on this adventure.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed and truly appreciated. The more the better for us.

Thank you SO much.

Fullers, a London Brewery with many pubs in the Capital does a new IPA called Wild River - (which I think they refer to as an American style IPA, but could be wrong) which is very pleasant.

Fullers ESB and London Porter (if you can get it) are both excellent.

Pocket --
Don't recall the Cheshire Cheese having any counter seating -- all rooms seemed to have a bar that you walk up to and order drinks and food, with different rooms and places to sit.

Last time there, in 2010, we had a couple of under 18's with us, and because we had a good sized group (8 or 9, I think), we trekked downstairs to the lower level bar that had some big tables (you feel like you're in a cellar!) and ordered at the bar. We collected the drinks from the bar, and someone brought us food.

Frankly, although they've been carding recently (there's now signs "if you look under 30 . . .") and clocked my then 21 year old son a few times, when a parent ordered and gave to a, say, 17 year old, no one took any notice.
