Thanks, sfmurphys – I really appreciate your input. My boys like castles, too! So that's a bit of a concern, though I'm sure the maze would be an attraction.

I've looked up 39 Steps and am quite excited about it. I've read the book and seen the film but this is a whole new ball-game with 4 actors playing hundred-odd parts. Sounds hilarious, and a good price and I think we'd all enjoy. So thank you.

Thanks also for the Routemaster info. Might be fun to jump on for a couple of stops.

There's a lot of regular spam, if you register for email updates, but you might also be interested in some of these offers - we did a London ghost Walk for half price during our trip last year:

bookmarking for a future trip! I didn't really enjoy London the one time I went during my junior year abroad many (many!) years ago (and before I knew any better or knew about Fodors), but it was Good Friday and many things were closed. After seeing this post, I'm looking forward to giving it another try!

Bendigo – you've come up trumps again. On this site 39 Steps is a 2-4-1 offer that works out cheaper than the 1/2 price tix! Thank you.

Kwren, I'm looking forward to getting a lot more out of London than I have before (only been twice, last time '95).

Don't know how I could have planned this trip without the amazing help on this forum.

It looks like I may have lead you up the garden path about photos required for travelcards. It seems I was confused and have posted another thread to clarify. Apologies for confusion.

Thanks for the follow-up, dreamon! No probs.

Haven't read each and every word but have you included your two kids in itinerary planning and if so what interests them?

smm_18 Aug 10th, 2013 12:26 PM

I've tried to! Harry Potter WB, bike tour, Muggles walk all geared to them.

Initially tried to encourage them to research each place we were visiting and come up with ideas, but this petered out pretty quickly and I've resigned myself to pretty much thinking on their behalf. I do talk about what I've planned, though, and they generally respond positively. I'm not sure if they think it's real yet. I'm prepared to adapt as we go (apart from the things I've already paid for!).

smm - I know how hard it is to take teens out of their own world at home and interest them in actually help planning where they want to go - you have done a great great job it seems and I'm sure it will all be hunky-dorey (and do give them a few hours in the Trocadero Center!)

Thanks, PalenQ! And thanks for your help along the way.

Hi,

Wonder if the thread owner is still around? How was your trip? I am planning a trip to London with my 13 yr old son in July, 2014.

I'm wondering also, taking 13 yr. old GD in June '14

the OP last posted in August - apparently doesn't do TRs.

That's such a shame. I would love to have known how they got on in London.
