I had some great fish and chips (6.5 gbps) in an old Bloomsbury pub called Cities of York, right on High Holborn.
Great Samuel Smiths stout and bitters, too. |
fyi...sadly dionysus had a fire and has been shut for a year now. it's a real shame because it had a great post-theatre location and was open late but i hear seashells is the best around.

That is terrible about Dionysus :(
I'm just going to post on chowhound.com - much more locals on there and the whole site is devoted to food...Plus, I am convinced that if there is a Chippy in zone 5 near North Harrow tube that my B&B host is so proud of, there has got to be more! I appreciate those who tried to help - but maybe I am just having a harder time expressing what I am looking for than I though (twoflowers, were you making your comments to me? - I am confused. I never said I wanted a sit down restaurant- of course, many of the "chippys" have bar stools and a counter) I am back to my original comment. LOL! (Full circle) I have read MANY articles about all the "real" and good Fish and Chips bars in the suburbs of London... but getting anyone to name those places is like pulling teeth. :)) |
I forgot to mention - and I am VERY SOrry - there were some good leads on here and I will check it out! :)
Ps, I didn't meant to sound rude before. - I will be visiting other places in England, so I am sure I will be well fed in Fish ;) I don't plan on eating greasy food 24/7 anyway ... I also have to get my fix of Indian food!! |
