London Eye Gets New Name
British Airways' Eye Over London, the world's largest Ferris Wheel i guess that sits in the heart of London on the Thames South Bank (actually sits in the water) is losing its sponsor apparently and soon will not be called British Airways' Eye Over London.
What company should take over sponsorship? The Marmite Eye Over London? The Emerates Eye Over London? The Whole Foods Market Eye Over London? HongKong and Shanghair Eye? What do you think? |
How intriguing! I like the Marmite Eye Over London myself. :))
|
Given that it's near the Oxo Tower it should be called the Brown Eye.
|
what???
Northern Rock Eye Over London? |
It's going to be sponsored by MI6, and called Eye Spy. Though apparently, Ian Hislop's putting in a counter offer to havbe it called Private Eye.
Whichever pone gets it, the Royal Navy's sponsoring a second Eye, just downriver. It's going to be called Aye Aye Sailor. |
tain't a "ferris" wheel. A Ferris wheel ride goes round and round - among other differences. The Eye is an observation wheel - w/ one revolution per ride.
|
I guess the Big Wheel i recently rode in Manchester, that looked like a bit smaller clone of the Eye Over London was a Ferris Wheel then as we went around five times.
They said in busy periods it may only go around once and then i guess it'd be called an Observation Wheel? |

No it would be called "t'eye". |
Actually, it is not the world's largest observation wheel or whatever, that distinction goes to either Singapore or Nanchang, or so I'm told...

London Eye-Sore?
I really do like the mix of modern and old in London (ex: Swiss Re Tower rising behind the Tower of London), but the London Eye is an ugly monstrosity. Probably a good money-maker, though. |
I think the Eye was scheduled as a one-off event like the Greenwich one is supposed to be
Perhaps that's how it gained public acceptance in the first place Personally i love it and it adds not detracts from my London views |
Eyefull Tower. (Now that froggies no longer arrive at Waterloo, the Brits need a new wind-at-a-distance to greet visitors.)

No it would be called "t'eye">> Being on the west side of the Penines it would be th'eye. Pedantically yours hetismij :) |
actually sits in the water
I don't think so since the "posts" holding it are severely angled away from the water. |
