London Eye - day or night???

Will be in London in March and know we want to do the London Eye - but I'm wondering what Fodorites think. Is it better to do during the day or after sunset?? Thanks

Do both if you can, but remember its dark at around 6 pm in march.

If it is a clear day -- go about 20 minutes before sunset - that way you get the best of both. The setting sun splashes the city in a beautiful glow and then the lights come on and by the time you are coming down over Big Ben it is getting dark and Parliament and everything will be illuminated

I agree with janis. Riding the eye just before sunset provided the most spectacular site. Even my teenagers could appreciate it!

We also did the Eye at sunset and have the most incredible pictures of Big Ben and Parliament.

If you somehow are running late for sunset, the night flight is nice.<BR>London lights up more than I expected and it seemed easy to pick out the sights around town because of that.

We were there a little before sunset and the glare made it hard to see out the west side, which included Big Ben, but that is just one person's opinion.
