London Eye advice ...

Debating whether to book ahead for mid-May or go with the flow when we are there. Kind of leaning towarad going with the flow. I'd hate to book ahead and possibly encounter a terrible weather day. Any thoughts??? If we don't book ahead how long would the wait be??

Appreciate your feedback.

Bob

Do not prebook. You've answered your own question quite well! It's not much of an experience in bad weather. Unless you want to ride the eye on a bank holiday, you will be able to get tickets the day you want to ride.

Go with the flow Bob!

Midweek is much, much, much quieter than weekends, although even then I've only had to queue for maybe an hour. The queues are deceptively large, don't be put off!

I agree with the above posters - go with the flow.

I was there a couple of weeks ago in very lovely weather and rode the London Eye at about 4:30 PM on a Thursday with virtually no line whatsoever. Just walked in for tickets and walked on the Eye. Granted, there will be more tourist traffic in mid-May than there was at the very end of March, but it most likely won't be that much worse.

Buy the tickets the day you intend to go.

Wait til you get there, listen to a weather report, and book for the next nice day. You'll avoid the worst lines and also the worst weather.

I was there last week, on a Friday. No problem with lines at all. Went to photograph the wheel, didn't plan to ride it. Didn't ride it either because we just didn't have the time. No need to pre-book. Americans aren't traveling abroad they say-tourism is down.

The wait really fluctuates and can be as short as 15 minutes. In general, weekends and holidays have longer waits. I probably would not suggest booking in advance due to Londons crappy weather. If you go, I suggest going for sunset a great way to see the city.

Its a good idea to pick up tickets in the morning for a later 'flight'.
We did that and were able to join a different queue.
The queues look huge sometimes but remember there are at 20 people per capsule, so it doesn't take long to get to the front.
Have fun and don't fall out !

lol

Muck
