London Eye
What time of day do you suggest going on the London Eye. We will be in London the first week in April...wondering the best time for viewing and also avoiding crowds.
|
A lot of folks seem to enjoy it around sunset as the lights begin to come on...personally, I enjoyed it during the height of the day and it wasn't crowded when I went. I think you may eb able to makle advance reservations but am not certain
www.londoneye.com might help |
My 2 cents: I enjoyed it after dark. No lines.

Although you can make reservations, I would avoid doing so. You want to stay flexible enough to adjust for the weather -- London Eye is best enjoyed when it's not raining nor too foggy.
I've been during the day and at twilight. I thoroughly enjoyed both again and would repeat either in a heartbeat. If you want to try to take pictures, daytime might be better. The view from the London Eye is great. |
Rode the EYE last year on a Tuesday in late April. Arrived just before it opened, bought a cup of coffee and sat and watched people and the river until we got on. No line at all-only four of us in the car. We enjoyed it-day was mostly sunny with a bit of haze, but could see quite a ways. Great ride.

Go midweek - avoid the weekend at all costs (at the weekends you've got all us Londoners who've run out of things to do with our visiting relations/friends. I must have been on it about 8 times so far).
Sunset or after dark is great, but to be honest, as long as it's not too cloudy it's fine anytime. |
We went the Monday before Christmas and it was very busy. The line moves very quickly. The real down side of going when it's busy is the car you're in will be crowded. That really spoils the trip because your view of anything is obscured by other bodies.
