London Eye

The website posts opening hours till 8:00 p.m. Does that mean that the last "flight" is at 8:00 or that the last ride is done at 8:00.
I have written to them with no response. We want to plan a night time go-round.
Thanks.

Well, we went at 8 p.m. last April and that was the last "flight" of the day. I suppose in the summer it could be later as it stays light longer. At 8 in April it was still more like twilight, not really dark at all. We've been in the daytime on another trip and that was very nice too.

We are going in early February. I think the hours are different than those in March.
Has anyone ever taken that 8:00 ride in November, December, January or February?

Isn't the London Eye closed for the entire month of January for routine repairs?

Erin,

Just an FYI. It reopens January 27th, I believe, and Quinty said he is going in early February.

How do you order tickets in advance for the London Eye? I'm guessing through their website or calling them directly. Does anyone have the name of their website or phone number? Thank you in advance.

There is really no need to pre-book tickets (except maybe for bank holiday weekends and in August). In fact it isn't a good idea to order ahead of time - what if your carefully selected date/time is just when a nasty storm is blowing through and you can't see anything? Wait until you are in London and on the first nice day stop by the Eye and pick up yoour tickets. Sometimes it is literally walk right on without a queue. Other times you will nedd to buy a tkt for later in the day. This is especially true between mid Sept and the end of May - they just don't have massive queues most of the year.

I finally got an e-mail response from the London Eye and have answered my own question.
The ticket office closes at 8:00 - that's when their last flight is, ending at 8:30.
Also, I had this question on the Big Bus tours, even though they say the buses run between 8:30 - 4:30, what that really means is the buses start their last full circuit at 4:30, so really they go for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours!
