London Elizabeth Hotel
Anyone have any experience with this hotel? It looks charming. Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed there and your input.
Thanks. |
It's gotten some mixed feedback here, which you should be able to find if you type "london elizabeth" into the text box at the top of this page.
There's a fair amount of info on tripadvisor.com (which I found simply by typing "london elizabeth hotel" into Google), including a link to Fodors Rants & Raves, which are *mostly* quite positive: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...n_England.html |
I have read a lot of the mixed reviews - and with somewaht good reasons. We stayed in Greville Janner Suite and were very pleased with value for money - proper lounge etc for 140 quid. Breakfasts were diabolical - crappiest quality jams and croissants. Soem public areas are pretty worn, but cosy bar - and fantastic prices. Room service drinks cost less than a cheap pub.

I had to laugh at Travelnick's comment about the quality of the jam..reminded me of the "Aunt Constance" character in "Gosford Park" who complained about the "feeble" marmalade served on her in-room breakfast tray and then prepared to absolutely SCARF DOWN the fare like a hog at the trough.

Make sure you're clear on which hotel as there are two different ones with similar names >>>
Personal experience with the Elizabeth Hotel in London? http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34393000 |
Unlike Aunt Constance after trying them I just left them. Actually they were just like my experience of most American jams, - jellies with no substance at all.

I do know that there are two hotels with similar names, but I am specific in my title: LONDON ELIZABETH HOTEL. This is the hotel I am looking for insight on. Thanks for the input and concern. Any further input from personal experience at this hotel is appreciated.

If you do decide to use this hotel, I'd love to hear about it, as I'm considering going there for my honeymoon in December. They have a room called The Elizabeth Room that looks delightful!
|
I stayed there for my honeymoon in 6/2001. It was wonderful. Comfortable bed, clean room, GREAT location. It was a bit pricey but I think anything nice in london is. I stayed in the Elizabeth suite(my wifes name is Elizabeth, it was a suprise) and got the romance special with champagne and strawberries. The food was average. If you have any specific questions, just email me. [email protected]

Do a search on "London Elizabeth" and you'll see my review from my six-night stay there in December, 2002.
Postscript: I came home with fungus in the ear from taking a shower in the first room (I switched rooms after the first night). This was due to the moldy condition of the bathroom. Yuck! Make sure that when you are in a damp climate, you check the condition of the shower head!! |
