London: Duck Tours??
 

I've seen the Duck Tour vehicles, both land vehicle and boat that goes into the Seine, and they look like fun.
Has anyone actually take one of the so-called Duck Tours in these military type vehicles?
Opinons?

Have not taken the Ducks into the Seine, but have into the Thames in London and here in the states--Wisconsin Dells---did it primarily for the sake of the kids and they seemed to enjoy it ok. I'd give it a try in Paris.

No my mental fart - should have said Thames instead of Seine - i'm talking about the London Duck Tours - don't believe they're in Paris yet. Sorry.

Well, I took the Duck Tours into the Thames. Signed up at the London Eye, or right in front of it.

It is kind of like a military vehicle. A huge metal truck with many seats that then floats.

I thought it was fun. Kind of like taking a bus tour, but then you get to go into the water.

The Thames seemed pretty dirty to me close up.

Its military designation is DUKW - it's basically a deuce-and-a-half with a boat hull. Ducks played an indispensible role in the liberation of Europe, because they could be driven from supply ships standing off the coast right up the beach to the front lines.

We rode one across open ocean from the shore to Elizabeth Castle on the isle of Jersey. Not enough freeboard to suit me, but Mme. Robespierre and I are strong swimmers.
