Fabulous trip report, janisj! We saw the Chihuly exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.

Janis, thanks to you I discovered Pimms. I’m now hooked. Instead of Just Airports we used Blackberry to/from LHR to S Kensington. We were very pleased with them.

The Dior exhibit is spectacular!! I wish I was able to see it but tickets were sold out by the time i knew about it.

As I've explained on a few threads (maybe not one of yours -- not sure) one can join the V&A and get immediate access to the Dior or any other exhibition without needing to have a ticket or pre-book. Not a totally insignificant expense, but in the whole of a UK trip not much ££ -- about the same as a mid-priced dinner. So for people who would love to see the exhibit -- definitely reasonable option.

I just read it's going on till Sept. 1. I thought perhaps I could try to drop in during Winter.

Easy to get hooked ;) :cocktail: I've only used Blackberry a couple of times and they were fine.

Thanks -- There was a MAJOR Chihluly about 10 years ago at the DeYoung in San Francisco. It was much more extensive then this one at Kew, but it was lovely seeing them integrated into the plantings and glass houses.

Just a final few more 'loose end' Photos -- I have a lot more but I think this is about enough for the TR . . .

An absolutely gorgeous day at Kew - most people were in shorts.

I’ve put some dates in action Janis. Will fly to LHR Dec 3rd on the day flight. Good to hit the ground running on the 4th! Found a nice studio flat with London Perfect in S Ken for a great deal.

I booked (FINALLY) my flights. Arrive the afternoon of Nov 29 and fly out Fri Dec 6. Looks like the only times we 'mesh' will be morning/afternoon on Wed or any time on Thursday. I have to be out at Kew by 5PM on Wed but up til 4-ish is free. No plans at all for Thursday except by late evening I'll be heading out to LHR for the last night. I think I'll try staying at the Hilton at T-2 for my T-3 flight. It so close so I can sleep in and not deal with a car service, the tube OR the Hoppa.

Small window but maybe we can fit something in???

(was going to fly in / out closer to your dates but I saved almost $3,000 moving the flights back 3 days -- business over and FIRST home (Woo Woo! :) )

Great Janis! Thursday looks best then...will keep it flexible, haven’t made any firm plans yet!

kmowatt Oct 2nd, 2019 05:41 AM

Hi Janis! I booked a late breakfast at the Wolseley on Wednesday the 4th (9:45). If you want to join that could be an option, otherwise I am around that area until I go to the flat pick up at 3:30. I’m going to book Christmas at Kew today for late Thursday...next week I’m in SF and Sonoma...the weather looks fab!

Was going to top this last night with a different idea . . . but Wed breakfast works perfect. Fits really well with the rest of my plans for the day.

kmowatt Oct 2nd, 2019 02:29 PM

Perfect!! I changed the reservation to “2”!! Look forward to seeing you again.
