London crowds over the Easter holidays
 

I’m considering a trip to London over my kids’ Spring break, which is the week before Easter. I know this coincides with the Easter holidays for UK schools. How crazy are crowds in museums and other kid friendly places in and around London? Thanks in advance.

London doesn't really have a high season or low season. It is crowded year round. Individual sites like the Natural History Museum or Tower of London may very well be more crowded due to local visiting . . . but just as many locals leave the city on a holiday break.

Also many of the London sights knowing it is school holidays offer special children's programming not available at other times. So there are pluses. You might check out closer to the time the online magazine www.timeout.com for London which has special kids section or other online resources for families in London.

I wouldn't go to children-friendly sights in London, esp the free ones. Was at Natural History and Science Museums during the May half term holiday and both places were mobbed! Paying attractions like The Tower of London and Westminster Abbey weren't too bad.

Good to know, thanks. Our local museums are definitely busier over school breaks, but it’s interesting that places charging admission might not be as affected.

Just a comment re the Natural History Museum: It is almost always mobbed :) It's a VERY popular place.

I've been there times nowhere near a school holiday and it was swarmed. If it is a school holiday - it will be full of families, if it is during term - it will be full of school groups.

I've been for Easter and the week after. I didn't find it crowded but I don't do museums. When I went to Shakespeare's Globe, we got right in and got to see students rehearsing for a play. We also got right in at the hard rock cafe when previously walked away when hearing the wait time. There were crowds but not like I've seen in the summer.
