London City airport question
 

What is it like to fly out of London City airport? My parents are planning a London to Milan flight on BA. It is less expensive and a better time to fly out of City airport versus Heathrow.

It seems closer, although they would be taking a taxi anyway. Would it be very busy? This would be on a Monday.

Also, what about the size of the plane, seats and service? Are snacks/drinks included as on regular BA flights? Would the aircraft (I think it is an Air100 jet, or something like that) be smaller and less comfortable?

I don't know this particular plane or service, but London City Airport is a pleasure to use. It's still relatively small and oriented to business users. I've never known it to be particularly crowded, and it's certainly nothing like the zoo that Heathrow and Gatwick can become on busy weekends.

The Docklands Light Railway has a station more or less into the terminal building, though a taxi is more convenient if you've got a lot of luggage to handle.

Every flight I've ever been on from LCY has full service, including virtually unlimited booze and something close to a proper meal. Every plane I've taken has been new-generation high-tech: small, slightly limited overhead space (but nothing like as limited as some US commuter flights), slightly more cramped than intra-European business class on 737s. Planes generally feel like private jets on steroids, rather than the racketty things you sometimes get in North America. The safety record of LCY flights is totaly impeccable: no plane going to, or returning from, it has ever had any incident of any kind.

LCY can get crowded incoming in the morning and outgoing at night - especially Fri afternoon and Monday mornings, especially during the ski season.

Yep, likely to be a small modern plane, because the airport has draconion noise restrictions.
