london choices

For our 3-day stay in May, we are trying to decide between a hotel booked in Kensington, and one in Victoria. We have been to London before, and have no specific plans other than a day trip out of the city, and theatre tickets one evening in Covent Garden. Any knowledgeable comparisons that one can make about the neighborhoods would be of interest, i.e. convenience, ambiance, safety, restaurants nearby at night. My son also is a runner and would probably enjoy being somewhere that he can run out the door of the hotel and be in a pleasant natural area for running within 10 - 15 minutes.

Which two hotels? Some 'claiming' to be in Kensington really aren't . . .

In general though, Kensington is posher but farther from sites and less convenient for transport.

Victoria is less posh but closer to a lot of sites.

(Now - if it is really South Kensington, that would be different)

sounds like being near a park might help unless he considers running along a river bank to be "natural."
