London Bridge Is …
 

It seems only fitting that my last evening should be spent walking along The Thames to visit the place that was a part of one of my childhood games and British schooling experience.

At the end of my “Jack The Ripper” tour, I am back at the Tower of London and start walking towards Big Ben and Westminster Underground Station. The night air is wonderful and the sky is clear as lights from various buildings and bridges reflect magnificently off the rapidly flowing river.

To my left, is Tower Bridge with the lighted and colorful Olympic Rings hanging in the center. To my right, is The London Bridge not falling down but all lit up in a brilliant orange accented with white trim lights above it and nice neon blue lights below.

Next along the path is The Millennium Bridge. From here, a glimpse of the lighted dome of St. Paul's Cathedral can be easily seen. In the spirit of the Olympic games, there is another lighted display of the Olympic rings on The Thames that changes from one Olympic color to another.

All soothing and relaxing to watch from one of the many benches along The River Walk. A fine and memorable end to my visit to London 2012.

I am a fan of your blog and writing but I don't understand why you keep splitting up your trip reports? One report for one trip should be suffice but like your other trip reports you seem to split them up? Are you trying to reach a wider audience or perhaps dominate the forum?

I suggest you keep it to one report so fans like me can follow them.

Wow, pictures of the London Bridge by a tourist. How original and clever. You should do more of these. How about the changing of the guard. Oh that's right you did that. Or how about a cloudy day in London. Oh, you did that too.

This is the present day equivalency of someone who bounds and gags another on to a couch and then shows them 500 slides.

You give mundane a bad name.

By the way, isn't that Tower Bridge, London Bridge is in Arizona.

My reasoning behind splitting the reports is I don't want readers to have to navigate thru all the comments & "expert critics remarks" that are not related to the original posting.

At times I do post chronological reports in one trip report. I will keep your comments in mind for future postings. Thanks.

to be fair, adu, we do get a glimpse of London Bridge, plus tower Bridge, the Cutty Sark, those rings, and a lot more besides. not very original but pretty.

Out of all the postings, I have only had a handful of critics and mostly the same ones to the way I write or do my postings. Most others seem to read them for what they are and are not purist about the technical stuff.

Your and others criticisms are duly noted and may be considered in my future postings.

PS.. I have been insane for a long time but maybe someday with the help of others I'll find it again :)

As one who loves London, I enjoyed that evening outing on the Thames you offered with the Olympic symbols on the bridges.

I'm with copinesq. In fact, this is almost the only one of your reports I've looked at since the third Lao one, just because you post too many. It also seemed at best odd that you were posting about going to the UK at the same time as supposedly contemporaneous reports on SEA.

Thanks for the input. Like "Copinesq" comments, I will take yours into consideration. However, I don't understand the difficulty in following various postings.

For me, the various postings works well and as you might be well aware it is pointless to try and please everyone. No matter what one does, you will always have critics unless you are willing to have others always tell you what to do and how you should do it.

Everyone has there own style and choice of posting reports and travel experiences. As a matter of fact some do not post at all but just sit on the sidelines waiting to be critical of those that do.

With modern technologies like the "Internet" and "Air Travel", I am at a lost how about what you find to be "at best odd". Is it possible that someone can post about two different subjects at the same time or be on two different continents in less than 24 hours?

IMO, it is quite possible :)

You are a traveling man! Glad to have found you. I am going to London in May 2013 - and your reports and experiences have given me great ideas. Thank you.

Thanks for your kind comments. London is one expensive city but it can still be enjoyed on a budget especially if you avoid most sit down restaurants for dinner.

Wonder if Buckingham took notice of what happened in Holland the other day. Maybe you will be there to see a new "King".
