London Bridge Hotel or Le Meridien Piccadilly?

Has anyone stayed here? I can't tell from the map on the website if it is in a good location. I love the look of the hotel and they are offering some good rates for the dates we will be there (March/April 2007). They have rooms that accommodate 4, which is what we are looking for
Currently have a reservation at Le Meridien Piccadilly for about the same price but getting worried about the very mixed reviews of this hotel. Upside to this is the location and the pool
Any comments or suggestions on these two?

Here is the link to their website

The hotel is spanking new and has nice rooms. But I personally wouldn't stay there - it is not convenient to a lot of places. However it is walking distance to Borough Market, the Globe/Tate Modern, Vinopolis (don't bother), and HMS Belfast. If you like your rate - you could do worse, but you could also probably do better.

Since there are 4 of you, have you considered an apartment? More space for less money . . . . .

The London Bridge Hotel is very pleasant - people from my American company come and stay here for business trips and love it. There is a very pleasant oriental restaurant as part of the hotel that does a good mixed Thai/Malaysian menu. The key point though is that this is predominantly used as a business hotel.

However the benefit is that the Jubilee Line from London Bridge station means you can get to all the touristy sites around Westminster in 10 minutes and you also have the opportunity to take an easy day trip to Brighton. Plus if you are arriving to/from Gatwick Airport it's very convenient being on the Thameslink (now First Capital Connect) direct rail connection

Maybe it's not the most convenient location for tourism, but I like the neighbourhood a lot, it's quite lively and really feel like you are not on such a big city And you always have the tube and lots of buses. But if the price is similar and this is your first visit to London, I would choose the Meridien Piccadilly.

The price is very similar, just a couple of dollars difference over a 7nt stay. I was in London once many many years ago and stayed in what is now the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum but that was a vacation with friends and this one is a family one with children. Everyone else has never been to London

Janis - we looked at the apartment route but my husband doesn't want to go that way

I have Le Meridien booked but the reason that I am having second thoughts is the very mixed reviews it gets on TA and on the hotel section of this website

Does location and pool at Le Meridien beat the great reviews that London Bridge is getting?

I also wanted to add that the price on either comes to about 150GBP per night plus VAT. Both are including a full english breakfast at no additional charge
