London Bloomsbury, WC1 6AA Location?
This apartment location is supposed to be 5 minutes to Goodge Street Metro. Can those of you who know London tell me if this location is centrally located? Thanks for your input. The photos look very nice.

Goodge Street is in W.1 rather than WC. 1, so your property is likely to the east. Bloomsbury is central-ish but it's a good hike to theatres, Trafalgar Sq etc.
All depends what you want to do in London. Personally, Bloomsbury is my favourite part of town and I've chosen it over other areas such as Kensington -- which is too "flash" for me. Will you share the link to the apartment???? |
If you've got the postcode right, I can't see why Goodge St comes into it. The nearest tube is Russell Sq, about a minute away.
It's like practically any other residential bit of central London: fair sprinkling of green squares (though, sadly, access to a lot of Coram Fiields opposite you is restricted if you're an unaccompanied adult. Yes, I did get that right), mix of Georgian terraced houses and Victorian mansion blocks of flats, generally highish quality neighbours but a reasonable sprinkling of lowlifes (nowhere in central London is a gated community, except the area round the Israeli embassy) and a reasonable huggermugger collection of workaday shops. There's a regular poster on this site who has particular expertise on the specific locations of most crack dens and the like. Unless this flat's one of his regular haunts, I'd take it straightaway. |
That post code is for The Institute of Control and Measurement!
Assuming the flat is nearby it's in Gower St. This is a good area. It's where University college London (UCL) is. So it's quite a studenty areaa with lots of bookshops and the like. Euston Square is actually the closest tube. There's lots of pubs and the like in the area and it is a real living area, not one of the tourist wastelands. I'd be very happy there. I've never raided a crack hopuse there - but I did kick loads of squatters out of the old nurses home in Huntley St. CW - Knows London's underbelly. |
You can see for yourself at www.streetmap.co.uk (though it tells me it's an out of date postcode, which is something new to me - for once, a street name might be more help).
And for general reference the C in the first part of the postcode stands for Central. Plenty of good transport links. |
As tourists, we like Bloomsbury a lot.
|
give us a link to the actual flat - the post code is apparently incorrect . . . . .
(Goodge street tube station is fine, Russell Sq is fine) |
Yes, I did find out it is on Gower Street, Janet Poole House. So, I guess that area is good??
|
The apartment would cost 85 pounds a night, which I thought seemed more than fair???
|
Janet Poole House, 105 Gower Street.
Yes, it's in a good location, very close to Goodge St tube station. In addition, there are many buses than run along Gower street. I personally enjoy buses more than the tube, unless I'm in a hurry to get somehwere. |
That is a nice location. Just up the street from The British Museum. Just beyond Tottenham Court Rd and the Goodge street tube station - maybe a 5 minutes walk from your flat - is Charlotte St which has all kinds of restaurants.
