London Apt.? Anyone stayed at VRBO #47902

This is a one bedroom apartment in a building called Albany Court, which is at the corner of Petty France and Palmer Street, adjacent to the St. James Park tube station. Anyone have any experience with this property, or perhaps one in the neighborhood?

I don't know the flat, but the location and price are both very good.

However it does look VERY sparsely furnished. The lounge seems to just have the leather couch and small glass dining table/2 chairs. And the bedroom seems to have a folding metal chair as a night stand.

But the kitchen seems fully furnished. And as I said the location really can't be beat - walking distance to just loads of sites from B'ham Palace to the parks to Trafalgar Sq to Westminster/Big Ben to the Cabinet War Rooms to the Eye.

So if a lot comfy/cushy furniture isn't improtant to you - go for it.

(often if VRBO owners would just use a wide angle lens their listing would work much better)

I did a Google search and found some better quality pictures of this same flat on a cached page for another property website, but they were largely better quality photos of the same thing. It looks like someone who lived there had a ton of built-in bookshelves, and now they are all empty. But, that won't affect how we sleep there, and I do love the location and price. Unless someone tells me something to dissuade me really quick, I'm going to book it.

Hi Janisj,

I have no idea about your apartment but I really like the look of this one. The website also seems nice and was recomended a while back. Good luck :-)

Mischka: Nice apartment, but I suspect the rate is as low as it is because of the three week minimum stay requirement.

Anyone else? I'm about to pull the trigger on it and send in my deposit.

I've stayed in this one in Knightsbridge & love the location. Great kitchen, too. Backs onto a little private park.

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and booked the place, so let's hope that it is as good a deal as it looks. I will certainly give a report afterwards.

We'd appreciate your report, twk. Also could you post a review on www.slowtrav.com? That's the most central site for self-catering acommodation.

Yes, I will try to remember to post one at Slow Travel. I got some good leads from that site, too.

We just returned from 3 weeks in an apartment on Petty France in Vandon Court. We paid $1000 US dollars per week for a one bedroom. We LOVED the convenient location. After getting to know the area, I would definitely stay there again. Our apt. did not have air conditioning (which we really missed!), but the park being just a few blocks away was refreshing. More than once, I sat at that Starbucks and daily, we used that tube station. We found our apartment on Ebay; however, I just checked and it's not currently listed.

Enjoy your time there. We loved every minute and even managed to spend a week in the country. It was a trip of a lifetime.

Michelle
