London - Apartment Rental companies
I thought I could find what I was looking for on other posts but I am not having much luck.
Can you please recommend some reputable apartment rental companies in London? We are looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom modern apartment that sleeps 3 (2 adults, 1 tween) reasonably close to a tube station in a safe neighborhood with shopping and restaurants nearby. Thanks! |

I had a LONG discussion about this recently!! I decided to go with http://www.rentals.chslondon.com/

We are using London Perfect in about two weeks. I made my choice based on the sterling reviews that Paris Perfect gets here on Fodors. I will post in mid February to say how it was.
|
What sort of budget?
London Perfect is fine -- but they tend towards the posh/high end of the market. |
Basil Street Apartments, near Harrod's, all sizes and configurations.

Thanks everybody. oh2doula - how could I have missed that thread???
Budget is probably no more than 200pounds per night - although I must admit that I am in sticker shock! We are considering a 2 bedroom apartment in Greenwich near the O2 and the North Greenwich station (Jubilee line). We are very comfortable using the tube and will probably take the train from Stratford up to Chelmsford (where we used to live) one day. But I am concerned that there is nothing much nearby - like pubs and restaurants, aside from what is in the O2. Thoughts? |
We've used Paris Vacation Apartments....they have a few London properties. We were a couple of blocks from the Gloucester St tube stop in a lovely neighborhood with good restaurants. The apartment had a terrace overlooking a community garden which was lovely. They have a link to their London site on the Paris site.

iowamom: I don't know your dates but these flats are next to the Tower in St Katharine's Marina and are much less than £200 a night even in high season. I'd much rather stay there than out at O2. There is a large Waitrose in the complex, and lots of places to eat literally on the door step-but very quiet since there is no vehicular traffic (except for deliveries)

Look at the apartment being discussed on the Artillery Row thread:

Thanks weekender. That one is not available but I see another one that is that i like - 1 -4 Shaftesbury.
|
You could easily beat 200 quid per night ($320) and the O2 location. That's a real haul into the center of town and there's no reason for it.

These flats look good...anyone here used the company, management connections? The parliament view one is interesting...

kmowatt, it would help if you provided a link . . . |

I was very happy with the Sloane St flat I rented through this company. I would use them again. |
Look at www.slowtrav.com at the apartments reviewed as well as the feedback on the rental agencies.
|
Sorry...clicked on the link above for the Artillery Row flat, and then forgot that this was a separate post...the company and flats I was viewing are at www.connectionsmg.com
I have also used farnum and Christ twice with much success, but next trip requires a three bed flat that has lift access as MIL with walker will be joining us...tube location not as critical as she will taxi most places... |
We stayed in a great apartment in Clerkenwell in December booked through The London Agent - we found them great to deal with:

We stayed in Parliament View last summer, we LOVED the apartment. It was a lovely apartment, the master bedroom is large, the other two smaller, but workable. Having two full bathrooms was great too. There were tube stops about 10-12 min away, but we used the busses all the time as they stopped right outside the building. We spent a lot of time in the morning and evening just staring out at that view, you will never forget Parliament and Big Ben all lit up at night. Company was easy to deal with, all went smoothly, I would rent from them again. |
That is great news wrenwood...the view is stunning...and the outside of the building looks great too...
|
Be sure to email them for a price quote, we were there the end of June (before the Olympics) and did not have to pay the price on the website.
|
wrenwood...Do you know if they take bookings for less than 7 nights? I have emailed them to find out. We only need 5 nights in London so I am hoping to find one.
|
Yes, we stayed 5 nights, but it may depend on time of year
|
bendigo - which apartment did you stay in in Clerkenwell?
|
The above Artillery Row apt. is a listing from London Connection, a company run by ex-British family now living in US (Utah). I have used it twice and highly recommend it.

iowamom,
We stayed in this apartment first week of December last- fabulous! My review is on the webpage: http://www.thelondonagent.com/Super-...ll-Home-2.html |
And some comments re the apartment I have previously posted on here:
London Agent was terrific to deal with - no problems at all, and our Heathrow Airport pick-up was waiting when we arrived! The apartment has lift access from ground floor - something that we appreciated more and more as our stair-climbing with suitcases continued across Europe! Fifth bed is a blow up mattress, but was reportedly very comfortable. The apartment was actually larger than we expected - only thing that was missing was a micro-wave. Also not really a dining area sufficient for the five of us. Access to the rest of London was great - easy walk to St Pauls area, London Museum, Guildhall, etc, and interesting to explore the immediate local area (Pubs, Meat Market, Clerkenwell Green, Order of St John of Jerusalem buildings, etc - I am a dedicated researcher and love to find out about an area before going there!) It's on the railway line, but we did not have any issues with noise - double glazed windows , door to small balcony. Less than two minutes walk to the Farringdon railway station which is on the Circle Line (and has lift / elevator access to platforms (an important consideration with kids and luggage) - allows easy access to almost anywhere in London - the connectivity is terrific through the Tube interchanges, and it is only a couple of stops from the Tower of London, and one stop from Kings Cross / St Pancras if you are connecting to / from Eurostar to Paris / Brussels. There was a good takeaway pizza place on Farringdon Road approximately opposite the railway station. Also a small Tesco that was good for our supplies, including Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc - one of the world's great sauv blancs from New Zealand - for 6.99GBP (much cheaper than I can buy it in Oz!), and we had a great pub Roast Dinner at the Sir John Oldcastle (?)on Farringdon Road on our last night. Also a few good places nearby for a full English breakfast to charge your batteries first thing in the morning! |
