London Apartment Rental Advice

Hey all,

As my title says, I'm looking for some advice re: London apartment rentals.

I've rented apartments before in Paris (3x through Vacation in Paris) and Barcelona (2x through Habitat Apartments) based on previous recommendations from other Fodorites. All of my previous apartment stays have been quite successful.

Now I'm looking for a rental apartment in London for December 2018 and I'm thoroughly confused by the sheer number of companies that pop up when I do a Google search.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a rental company in London similar to Vacation in Paris or Habitat Apartments?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/recommendations.

As I'm not familiar with those companies, I don't know what similarities/characteristics you are looking for, but I had an excellent experience with Ivy Lettings when renting 4 flats for students, parents and teachers June 2017, so my hubby and I have used them for a flat for this June.

I've rented through LondonPerfect.com, VRBO, and AirB&B in London. Certainly, the LondonPerfect apartment was the nicest, and the most expensive. The AirBnB we rented was in a fabulous location, but had a few distractions. The VRBO was the one I liked the least, but I'm pretty sure that was just a poor pick on my part. We tried to go pretty cheaply the last two times, and it wasn't the apartments weren't that great.

What sort of budget? Many agencies cater to different segments depending on the 'posh' factor/prices.

And how many of you/what size flat are you looking for?

There are 3 of us. 2 adults and a teen. Looking for 1-2 bedrooms and hoping for the $250-$400/night price range somewhere in central London.

That is generous enough (£175 - £285/nights) that you should not have a problem at all.

Some prefer using an actual agency rather than listing sites like vrbo and airbnb. There are several very long standing/well regarded agencies including Ivy Lettings, and London Perfect. A very good one is Farnum Christ - Home

If you want the amenities of a full service hotel, Dolphin House is wonderful https://www.dolphinsquare.co.uk/dolphin-house/

You can also check on booking.com using apartment as a search criteria.

Generally any place within the Circle tube line (except the southern/western bits of Chelsea) will be convenient with one or more nearly tube stations.

I haven't rented from them, but I remember https://www.ivylettings.com/ getting good reviews, and they're less expensive than London Perfect.

We used Coach House Rentals and were very happy with them. We stayed in their property EMP - Emperor's Gate and it was exactly as advertised on their website. Good luck!

Highly recommend the US-based London Connection who were terrific to work with, had great properties well priced, and local agents who were excellent. If you liked Vacation in Paris, you'll love these guys.

I used Ivy Lettings for a rental this past Spring. I found them easy to deal with. The apt was as pictured. I would recommend them.

For something a bit more apart-hotel, I like Go Native.

Try a company called Home from Home. They have a large range of super looking apartments and are reputed to be very good
