London and ???????????

I will be visiting freinds in London at the end of March. I would like to make a side trip from London. Where should I go in March, or early April where the weather will be okish and most of the tourist attractions will be open. I would like to go somewhere in Europe I haven't been. I have been to the following countries in Europe - UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweeden, Finland, Russia, Poland and Estonia. Thanks for any help fodorites can provide.

Some of the countries where you have been are faily large. You may not have seen all there is of them.

Denmark. Copenhagen alone is worth the ride, and there's a lot of interesting history out in the provinces.

But I think March/April is a little early for many popular attractions, such as the Tivoli Gardens.

Chestnuts in blossom....

Thanks for the feedback.
Keith, you make a good point by suggesting i may not have seen all the areas of the countries I have been to. For example, I have been to European Russia and not the Asian side of the country. However, I have seen the major highlights in each of these countries and I would like to visit a new country if possible.
Any suggestions/tips?

You could go to Prague in the Czech Republic or Budapest in Hungary. Personally I would go somewhere warm after being in London like the Canary Islands.

I was thinking of Prague, but I am under the impression that it is too early in the year to visit. Will most tourists sights be open in early April?

I went to Prague in March a couple of years back and everything was open. It's a year-round destination these days and given a choice, I'd always go off-season to avoid at least the worst of the crowds.

Istanbul (though I'm tempted to be cautious with bird flu around)..?

Bratislava? Ljubljana? Both are being promoted quite a lot here now, though not yet in the same popularity/familiarity league as Prague or Budapest. Likewise Riga and Vilnius (to complete the Baltic "set").

Or could you risk waiting till you get here to see what late-booking bargains local operators might be offering?

The sites that you would probably be interested in, in Prague, do not close for the Winter. Hopefully, you aren't like the woman who wrote the postcard saying, "Saw all the art in Florence today; on to Rome tomorrow."

Malta? Weather should be decent, island is small enough to get around easily, attractions should be open, and it's an easy destination to reach from London.

perhaps you should scroll through the dazzling aray of destinations that Ryanair fly to from London at a budget price. Book it today, and you could fly return for £1.98 + tax!
