Funny how I did look into the Ibis before I did my bids on Priceline, and that is the limit I kept in mind when I bid. Having paid 25 to 28 pounds total for a double room each time, I clearly came out ahead of the beloved Ibis by any measure, as I just established. I've stayed in an Ibis in Sweden. I think Holiday Inn is generally a cut or two or three above Ibis in quality.

Geordie Darling,

I'm sure you're right.
You've now done the analysis and come to a conclusion thats right personally for you.

Congratulations, I think I love you

Pity you didn't do this before you started bidding on Pricline.

You couldn't afford me, unless you start saving your money now

Willtravel - great, my appologies your post didn't originally communicate the reasoning described.

Forgive me, I'm only a dumb woman.
For me and others ike me it would help in your future posts if rather than the usual "Go to Priceline" one liner, you expand on the reasoning of your analysis which led you to that single conclusion.

LondonSue implies a good point, these 'Go to Priceline' posts are nothing but advertisements/spam which are expressly against the rules of this board.
Anybody seeing such posts should report them for deletion.

As LondonSue says a 'Go to Priceline' answer conveys no specific information and is a straight advertisement/spam unless some indication is given of a recommended maximum bid amount. Ideally a fallback recommendation should also be there in case the bid is not accepted at that amount - which at least shows the person has taken some effort to evaluate the question being asked and is not an employee of biddingfortravel or Priceline spamming.

I once had the misfortune to stay at an Ibis when I was stuck at Luton (never again!). The room was like a prison cell.

The point of an airport hotel is to offer a place for relaxation, and rest. The Ibis will just frustrate you. It is a dump!

Staying there is a false economy, much better to pay double for some comfort!

Wow, not only that we can't talk about Priceline or biddingfortravel in general threads about London hotels, we can't even talk about them when the OP specifically asks about it in his/her title.

Again, for those who're so against Priceline, just post good alternatives. You can ignore all of WillTravel's or my posts. Don't need to trash other's opinion.

People will listen to you when you can provide good alternatives at good price.

Gee, enfieldian, using your reasoning, we should report *any* mention of a specific business as spam. What if someone recommends a hotel - how do we know they don't have some stake in it? If they say negative things about a hotel, how do we know the poster doesn't work for a competitor?

If Fodors wants to be consistent and delete any post that mentions a specific business, fine, they can delete all the posts that menion Priceline, Holiday Inn, Rick Steves, American Airlines, whatever. But I have a feeling this place would soon wither and die in that case.

Blimey Rikwan and Andrew - you really don't read this threads do you before you write.

Apologies in advance if English is not your mother tongue and you really can't understand the written word.

Londonsue - Everybody was playing nice, giving actual facts on Priceline or otherwise. That was, until your post 12/16/05 7:25am. It was YOU who turned personal in this thread. So, I hold YOU responsible for the nastiness here.

Go read that post of your own.

Can someone explain to me Andrew's logic process on his reply to Enfieldian.

Is there any logic?

BigH - Yes, I understand Andrew's logic and I don't understand enfieldian's.

Apparently, pro-Priceline people have their brains wired one-way, and anti-Priceline people have them the other.

So, let's not argue, because we can't understand the logic of each other anyways.

I sincerely apologize to the OP because I actually didn't contribute any real information for him/her. And I think I've wasted enough time with some of the people on this board.

Sorry, LondonSue, if you're going to get nasty and insulting, I'm not interested in participating. Where do the adults hang out, by the way?

Wow ! I just checked in and see what I've started. Obviosuly there are different philosophies on how to book a hotel. I'll check out the suggestions, thanks.
