London Accomodations Advice
 

Looking for 5 nights in April for 3 people. We need two rooms with a range of about 600-1,000 GBP. My wife is studying for a professional exam so either a study area in the accomodation or local library would be ideal. Also, a west end location would be ideal but not essential; any nice neighborhood with tube access will do.

These are the places we have found so far:

If you mean April as in next month you are cutting this pretty close. You might check Scala House Apartments but I have no idea if they would have availability for April this late in March. Apts are all 2 bedroom, I am sure the small bedroom would be a good place to study. It's right around the corner from Goodge St. Tube and within walking distance to British Museum and areas of the west end. While it is not fancy or palatial we have stayed there several times and found it more then adequate.

You shoud be able to find any number of nice flats in that price range. But if you want convenience, I would advise against your #2 in Harrods Village. It is probably a fairly posh place and on the river. But it is on the south side of the river in Barnes. You would have to walk across the river 10+ minutes to get to the nearest tube station.

The timeshare (the Allen House) where we stay in Kensington also rents out apartments. The apartments have a dining room table that could be used as a study area, or there is a library a few blocks away (on Philimore Walk.)

The AH is located on Allen Street, just off Kensington High Street, about a 5 minute walk from the High Street Kensington tube station. It's a nice area with lots of shops and restaurants.

I can recommend the Somerset Queen's Gate Gardens apartment at the Gloucester Rd. tube stop. www.the-ascott.com. We've stayed here twice and were quite pleased.

You could meet your budget by bidding for two 4* rooms on Priceline - although you wouldn't get a separate study room, of course. But you could choose the Bloomsbury zone, and your wife could go to the British Museum Reading Room, for example. More info on Priceline: http://www.biddingfortravel.com
