London Accomodations
I'll be visiting London in January and I'm looking for hotel recommendations in a nice area outside central London. We'll be in Westminster for most our our visit but would like to stay further out for the last two nights. We were thinking about Hampstead, Richmond or Greenwich but we havne't found a good online resource for accomodations. I'll be traveling with my wife and two young children so we'll need a family room. I'd like to get a good deal but I'm open to anything. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
Try their auto club site at "theaa.co.uk" which gives info on about 8,000 lodgings.look at Windsor & Dorking also....weekend rates are much less & good train service from london.

George,
Don't hesitate to ask the hotel you find if they have any "special offers" for that time of year. I too will be in the UK in Jan. (London) and found every hotel I contacted willing to discount 30-45%. Our friends generosity has allowed me to extend my stay. Ahh, an extra day at the National Gallery and an extra meal at St. Martins. M.

I use Google as my search engine and put in Hampstead hotels in the search box. It came up with in-london.co.uk and lth-hotels.com
I am sure you will get a bargain in January. You should try the same search engine and just put in Greenwich, Richmond etc. The hotels I know of in the Hampstead area are not in the village but in the Swiss Cottage area where thers is good transport connections. I just mention this as you may be lookinh to stay in the village area which is most attractive.

Another great site for accommodations all over England is www.smoothhound.com. They have tons of moderately priced hotels and B&Bs in just about any town in the country.

George,

Check

http://www.hoteluk.com/unitedkingdom.html

and also:

http://www.lastminute.com/

Although this one is really useful if you're booking in a last minute basis. The rates are really great.. The site is slow to download but is worth of the wait.

I hope it helps.

Regards,

S
