London accommodations for 5.
hello fodorites,
firstly, pardon the lower case, but due to a broken wrist, i'm typing with just one hand. :-( you've been helpful in the past, so here goes: we are a group of 5 friends in the early planning stages of a london jaunt in either october or november. naturally, we have already found several web sites for larger flats, but would like some recommendations if you have any. to be more specific: we would all like separate beds and will need 2 baths (for 3 gals/2 guys). the neighborhoods we'd prefer are kensington, mayfair, belgravia, bloomsbury, westminster, and knightbridge. being in the thick of things is very important to us and nobody wants to spend more than $600/person or so on accommodations for the week. is this realistic? any specific suggestions? although i have visited london many times, i've only stayed at b&b's and hotels in the past. oh, any theater recommendations and tips are also most welcome. thanks! rebecka |
that budget will give you £1500 to £1600 per week for a flat. You should have no problem finding a large 2 bdrm or even a 3 bdrm in the areas you like. I usually rent smaller flats so I'll have to do some resaerch for some links - I'll try to get to it late tonight. But other fodorites will likely have sources for you.

Oh - You might check this one out - it is quite large and well inside your budget.

janis,
thanks for the advice but it would seem you forgot to post the link. thanks! |

janis, you may be interested to know that my friends and I did send a query about the Knightsbridge flat you mentioned and although it looks (and may well be) wonderful, we discovered that the owner or contact is one Payton Kane "image maker to the stars" whose bio put us off completely:

You may want to check out the Amsterdam Hotel in Earls Court on Trebovir Road. We stayed in a two bedroom flat(4 of us) and had seperate beds plus a large living room w/ a sofa bed, and a stocked kitchen with plates glasses microwave etc. Close to Kensington and only a couple of tube stops from Westminster, Soho, Covent Gardens. Its also the same tube line(Piccadilly) which runs from Heathrow. Hope you enjoy London. I just love the place
