London Accommodations

My husband, my son and my sister will be traveling to London in middle November. We need either an apartment or a 3 bedroom suite to accomodate 4 people. My son is grown and wants his own room or pull out couch...can anybody recommend some places for us...We would like to be in a nice safe area but we are not tied down to one particular area.

You might want to try a search on this forum using the term "London apartment"...quite a bit of good stuff comes up. There has been a lot of chat recently about the lack of "family rooms" in downtown London hotels, so it does sound as if that aprtment would be a better bet than the 3-bedroom hotel suite option.

If you are frustrated in finding a suitable apartment (November is around the corner!), check out the Celtic Hotel in Bloomsbury...it is not fancy, but clean and central and, has rooms that may not be directly joined but are adjacent and inexpensive.

Also look at www.slowtrav.com for reviews of rentals and rental agencies in London. Check other offerings by well-reviewed agencies.

Another option is to use Priceline and get 3 rooms. Priceline is supposed to be good for London.

It would help if you tell us how long you will be there - apts are easier for a week - esp at such short notice - and give us some idea of your budget.

We are staying in a 2 br 2 bath flat in Kensington next week rented through A Place Like Home". So far working with them has been great but we shall see how the stay goes.

we will be staying one week...our budget is probably mid priced accommodations

You need to define what is "mid priced" with an actual per night financial sum. Otherwise, who knows what that means to you?

Have a look at the places suggested already then decide what "mid price" means in cold cash

"<i>our budget is probably mid priced accommodations</i>"

"mid price" in NYC terms is EXTREMELY high price in Topeka - mid price in Topeka is less than a hostel in NYC. (London runs closer to NYC) so what is your actual budget?

But look at these for an idea http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~hamlet_uk/

I have used and received good service from both http://www.londonconnection.com/main_menu.asp and http://www.ivylettings.com/ and would recommend either.

For a double room in a mid priced hotel in London I would expect to pay about 250 pounds. This is not exactly in the middle - but budget would be about half that and upscale (not luxury) would be about twice that.

If you are looking at prices significantlylower than that you should probably be looking at getting 3 rooms vis Priceline. this usually has good deals in London but getting rooms for 7 night can be a problem. I really don;t think you are going to find any hotels that have 3 bedroom suite - most suites are 1 BR with a living area - with the option of adding a second BR on the other side in some hotels.

I would go for 3 hotel rooms rather than a suite or apt just to get the extra baths.
